Changeling

No one truly knows where the changelings descended fronm. Some

say they are the first race, before their forms were set by the gods.
Some say they are from the blood of the storied doppelgangers.
But whatever the truth, the changelings walk among us, executing
their secretive plans and eking out an existence among the other races,
often with the truth unknown to others. They are perfect infiltrators
and spies, and have made an entire culture of cultivating personalities
and personas that they can switch between, sometimes never showing
their real face to anyone but those closest to them. And there are those
who use their abilities to their profit, taking on forms at the request of
others, working as a kind of mercenary or persona for hire,
penultimate actors in the greatest play they can find: life. Changelings
do not often take non-changelings into their confidence, and those
who they do accept this way are valued higher than any treasure the
changeling could ever acquire.
