Activities (Formative)

Title: Class Review

Things to do:

1. Discuss at least five (5) strategies to be adopted by the top management and give example each.

Ans. 5 strategies to be adopted.

- Adventurous and Bold Change Management – Like many other aspects, the adventurous and the bold
change management depends on the personal qualities of the CEO. The CEO, in addition to his own bold
initiatives, should support innovative change management initiated by his employees.

Example: NETFLIX - In 1997, the gargantuan media-services provider Netflix was born. Previously, the
model offered customers monthly subscriptions to have movies posted to their door. Streaming began
in 2007 for the business and meant subscribers no longer needed to wait for DVDs to come through the
mail. This means a possible fall down of the Netflix industry but Netflix made a very risky and Bold
decision, They use the internet and use the profit of the company in engaging online, uploading contents
in online to sell it. Netflix successfully implemented change management to meet the needs of the
consumers that would begin to watch content online. Netflix is one of the famous film companies
nowadays.

- Management By Walking Around – is one of the most effective tools of management and leadership for
the growth of the organization.

Example: Like Howard Schultz, founder of Starbucks, would visit 25 stores per week to learn what was
happening at the coalface, and reinforce the values of the company

- Continuous Preventive Action – There are two ways of handling a problem, one is to cure it and other
to prevent it. All of us give full justification as to why a problem could not be prevented early enough.
Not preventing a problem is a reactive approach. However, a manager cannot be reactive, if he wants to
practice TQM.

Example: corrective and preventive report: The purpose of the corrective and preventive action
subsystem is to collect information, analyze information, identify and investigate product and quality
problems, and take appropriate and effective corrective and/or preventive action to prevent their
recurrence.

-Set Your Daily Priorities: You have probably noticed by now that I love a plan Especially when it’s made
up of small achievable steps because that guarantees action toward a goal. Diving right into your day
with no plan and not knowing what your day’s priorities are (same goes for the week, month, etc.) or
how they align to your goal, Write out your top 3 must-do priorities for the day. If you get more done,
great, and if not, then you know what you have for tomorrow.

-Build a Virtual Organization – Gone are the days when vertical integration was a preferred strategy. But
the situation has changed now. A smarter way of doing business is to create a near virtual corporation.
The core part is manufactured and the rest brought from qualified vendors. This has been found to be
highly effective and profitable.

Example: NBA organization partner with 22bet.com an online betting site, NBA partner with sports
betting companies throughout the world to make sports betting easier for fans wanting to make a bet
