W3 Process

The picture illustrates how electricity is produced by using geothermal

energy. Overall, this is a man-made linear process involving two main stages,
starting at pumping the cold water and finishing at distribution.

At the first step, the cold water is was pumped from a tank down 4.5 km
underground into the injection well. Following that, the water is heated up
during conveying through the geothermal zone due to the hot rocks in this
area. Flowing into the production well, the hot water is pumped up to a large
condenser, ready for the next stage.

After that, the water in the condenser evaporates into steam, then goes
through pipes and turns the turbine. From this, water creates electricity due
to the turbine by running the generator. At the final step, the produced
electricity is distributed to different destinations through electricity grids. 6.5
The diagrams illustrate the present look of a university’s sports centre
and the renovated plan in the future. Overall, the sports centre will
experience some significant changes, with the development of the two
outdoor courts and the addition of various sports facilities.
+

At present, this centre has a large building in the middle and two
outdoor courts to the west and east. Inside the building, there is a
reception facing the main entrance, a 25m swimming pool behind the
reception and a gym at the back. People can access the seating area by
the door on the right of the reception desk, while the door on the left
leads to the changing room.
The second map shows that the two outdoor courts will be merged with
the main building. On the site of the western outdoor courts, a large
leisure pool will be constructed, while a big sports hall and two studios
for dancing will be built on the site of the other outdoor courts. There
will also be two additional changing rooms, a new café and a sports shop
on either side of the main entrance. The gym is planned to double in
size, while the remaining features will stay unchanged.
