2. Calculate the slope of your velocity-time graph.

The slope is the average acceleration a avg itself.
Let the slope be m:
v f −v i 2.124−0.7224 −2
a avg=gexp =m= = =8.76 m. s
∆t 0.1773−0.0173

Obtaining the equation of the line that represents the slope:

Let the initial equation of the line be:
y=mx=8.76 x
It is a line passed from the origin.
What we just need to is to determine the value of translating or moving the line on y-axis.
The final equation of the line will be in this form:
y=mx+b
We obtain b by taking the Arithmetic Mean of “the distances between the points of the two lines (the
experimental graph of velocity−time, y=8.76 x) on the y-axis”.
Let k be the sum of the velocities values:
k =0.7724+ 0.8644+1.205+1.4+ 1.483+1.765+1.928+1.871+2.106+2.124=15.4688
And l be the sum of y(s) from equation ( y=mx=8.76 x):
l=0.0173 m+0.04907 m+0.0739 m+ 0.0932m+0.1106 m+ 0.1261m+0.1397 m+0.1529 m+ 0.1655 m+0.1773 m=1.
Then:
k−l 15.4688−9.7164
b= = =0.5752
10 10
So the regression line’s equation is y=8.76 x +0.5752
