Philosophy of Education

When I was a student my favorite thing to do was cool science experiments in and

outside of the classroom. Touching and seeing how things are done are what made me learn the

best. Some of my teachers would have us do a science experiment a few days a week, some of

them may involve making a paper airplane, making slime, or dropping eggs from a high distance.

I learn faster with hands on, most students do. I believe teachers do everything possible to teach

their students the best way they can. They want to make sure everyone learns the same thing and

at the same time and works with the ones who struggle.
Being a teacher is a difficult job, but it can also be a blessing. We want all of our students

to be successful the further they go on in life, to always push beyond their limits to become

something great. Pushing their imaginations beyond reach, doing things others thought were

impossible. We do not want to teach our students to give up, to feel failed by the world.

Knowing the right and the wrong in the world, showing the good or bad in some situations in life

and moving past the bad ones and pushing towards the good ones.

I believe the best student-Centered is Progressivism, they learn by doing. It’s not all

about learning through a textbook and the STAR testing or any other major testing that we do. I

believe that students do a lot of hands on with the lessons and the activities they would learn a lot

better. Students will have the memories of those throughout the school years they have in the

future, students can find the meaning of things by doing what they learned. John Dewey had

even agreed that Progressivism is the best way to learn. Students can become great problem

solvers by doing what they learned. It allows them to open their mind to other possibilities with

PHILOSOPHY                                                                                                                                 3

the problems and makes them think harder for a different answer. I do not think teachers should

make them sit at a desk all day while reading from a textbook.

I believe teachers should take hands-on learning seriously while in the classroom, it may

not be an everyday thing but multiple times a week. Making students want to learn in and outside

of the classroom, wanting them to go home and try the safe at home experiments they have

learned in the class. I believe teachers should teach by Perennialism, in which all students should

be treated the same way. Teachers teach the things that are important for life, teachers should

teach it for students whether they like it or not. The aim is to develop the power of thoughts and
understanding. I do not think teachers should single one out because they do not want to learn. It

shows the importance of humankind, it can develop their mind and think critically.

I believe when being a teacher, it is important to plan out the whole year. Using the

curriculum that the school has given you, but also add things you think are important.

Curriculum shares one major goal: to help students learn, no matter where you’re from or if you

moved school before. It does way more than guide lessons on basic math, science, reading or

history, it benefits everyone. It teaches the students the main important subjects that create a life

for students in the future. Teachers design it to help the students improve in and outside of

school.

I believe many teachers should teach using multi- cultural as well. Using any form of

teaching to incorporate the histories, texts, values beliefs, and different cultural backgrounds. It

shows the importance of other cultures that may and may not be in the classroom. I believe

showing all your students to respect and honor the other cultures in the world is important,

showing them that.

PHILOSOPHY

I do not think teachers should avoid multicultural teaching, it is important for students to know

how things are done in different cultures.

Students need more hands-on activities other than spending almost every year in school

doing tests. I do not think teaching will be much different than it is now. I believe students have
a fear of tests, when they say you can only use paper, and a black pen. I want my students to

achieve in life, giving and helping them prepare for every state test, showing them the right and

the wrong of the tests. With the fear the students have, you can’t really tell what kind of potential

they have as a student. Students are graded their whole life with the fear they might fail, I do not

want that with my students in the future.

In all I believe if we help our students worry less about the testing by being prepared. I

want all my students to feel comfortable in the classroom, them coming to class wanting to learn.

Pushing the students further and pushing them harder to achieve the goal of learning and

becoming the best they can be. We as teachers should be able to show them the greatness of the

world, giving a good learning experience for all students. As teachers we should give them more

than just the basic learning, showing them the life in and outside of the classroom and showing

them the way to live, but giving them good life lessons and the education to get them the life

they want.
