 New LNG Carrier for Gaz de France

The world’s first large size LNG vessel to be powered by electric propulsion
is being built by Chantiers de l‘Atlantique of the ALSTOM group for
Gaz de France. This 153,500 m3 vessel, with the largest capacity of
any LNG vessel to-date, will be delivered in October, 2005.

This highly advanced and trendsetting vessel will utilize electric

propulsion in combination with “dual fuel” engines to achieve
extremely efficient, safe and ecological propulsion.

ABB Scope of Supply:

● 2 x 6.6 kV Medium Voltage Main Switchboards
● 2 x 6.6 kV Medium Voltage Cargo Switchboards
● 4 x Three-winding Supply Transformers
● 2 x 14 MW Medium Speed Synchronous Propulsion Motors
● 2 x ACS 6000SD Frequency Converters
● Propulsion Control System
