1.0 GENERAL

1.1 SCOPE:

This specification covers the minimum requirement for the supply of Firewater
Hydrants and Fire Hose Cabinets to be installed at Bosicor Refinery-Balochistan.

1.2 DEVIATIONS:

Any deviations to this Specification shall be made in writing and shall require the
written approval of the Owner prior to supply of equipment.

2.0 CODES AND STANDARDS

Unless otherwise specified, minimum requirements are to be in accordance with


latest editions of the following standards:

NFPA-24 Standard for the installation of Private Fire Service Mains and Their
Appurtenance

NFPA-1961 Standard for Fire Hose

NFPA-1963 Standard for Fire Hose Connections

3.0 FIRE WATER HYDRANT:

3.2 Color:

Hydrant shall be painted RED according to the following sequence

1st Coat Red lead primer 45 to 50 microns DFT


2nd Coat Red lead primer 45 to 50 microns DFT
3rd Coat Synthetic Enamel Paint 25 to 30 microns DFT
4th Coat Synthetic Enamel Paint 25 to 30 microns DFT
Total dry film thickness (DFT) 140 microns minimum

4.0 FIRE HOSE CABINET:

The hose cabinet shall have hose of 2-1/2” dia – 100 ft. long equip with
instantaneous couplings at both ends and Nozzle

The box and the door shall be from 16 s.w.g and 18 s.w.g steel sheeting
respectively, finished in red color. A full length chromium plated steel hinge shall be
fitted which allow the door to open through 180o .The door shall also be fitted with
magnetic catches to keep the door shut when the hose is not in use.

Quantity of cabinet : 06 Nos.

Hose material : Covered type not coated, Highly flexible, light weight,
easy cleaned and suitable for hydrocarbon, confirming
to NFPA-1961

End connections : Instantaneous male and female half coupling, double


pull, ribbed tale, conforming to NFPA-1963.

Hose cabinet shall be installed around tank farm, gantry, admin building, etc. Hose
cabinet shall be stand alone type i.e., not wall mounted.

5.0 FIRE HOSE REELS:

Fire hose reel shall be used by the operators in refinery process area. The hose
reels shall be swing fire hose reel with automatic stop valve suitable for mounting on
steel structure (I-beam) stand alone. Reel diameter and length shall be 25 mm and
30 m respectively.

Hose reels shall be supplied with :

• Hose reel with side discs powder coated RAL 3001 red
• Integrated automatic stop valve
• Quick-change coupling system
• Jet/Spray/Shut-off nozzle
• Hose standard BS EN694 suitable for fire hose
• Mounting template
• Swing arm with waterways hinged on right hand side (180 deg. Swing)
• Water supply nozzle with valve of dia. 2”
• Center part made of brass
• Adjustable break

Quantity of cabinet : 06 Nos.

Hose reel shall be installed around process area of refinery. Hose material shall be
compatible with hydrocarbon.
Hose reel shall be tested, approved and CE marked according to BS EN671-1.

5.0 WARRANTIES

The Contractor/Supplier shall guarantees that each item will meet the requirement of
the specifications, and will be new and free of defects in design, material and
workmanship. As to the items originally provided, the guarantee shall apply to
discrepancies and defects that are discovered within the shorter of 12 months after
being placed in the operation or 18 months after being received on the job site. If
corrective work is performed on an item under this guarantee, the guarantee shall
also be apply to the discrepancies and defects in the corrected item discovered
within the shorter of 12 months after the corrected item is again placed in the
operation or 18 months after the corrected work is completed. These guarantees
terms shall be extended for any period that and time can not be operated as a result
of such discrepancies or defect in any item provided by the Contractor/Supplier.

The guarantee shall apply whether or not design, data or information are provided,
reviewed or approved by Bosicor Pakistan Ltd., but shall not apply failures caused by
subjecting the item to conditions more severe that those described.

Whenever any discrepancy or defect discover, the Contractor/Supplier shall promptly


suggest the method for correcting the defect or discrepancy which meet requirement
of standards and involves least operating / maintenance time. Bosicor Pakistan Ltd,
in its sole discretion, may select Contractor/Supplier proposed method or any other
method of correcting the discrepancy or defect. When required by Bosicor Pakistan
Ltd, the Contractor/Supplier shall perform the corrective work required to satisfy
guarantee terms on an overtime and /or shift work basis, shall procure required
materials using the fastest means available in order to minimize Bosicor Pakistan
Ltd. loss of operating time.
