Title of the Project: A study on employees absenteeism with
special reference to XYZ Ltd.

Statement of the problem: Absenteeism is one of the major human


problems of Indian industries and it’s one of the
great disasters faced by all the organizations
which results in turnover. Important
characteristics of the Indian workers that they
are habit of absenting so the firm has to reinvest
lot of amounts. People not only used to leave
due to the personal reasons, the main reason is
all about the environmental factors. Absenteeism
not only indicates the physical presence it starts
with the “Mental absence” of an individual. The
firm has to take necessary steps and this also
helps to the management to know about the
employee’s basic needs which are not fulfilled
and what is the main expectation of employee’s.

Explanation of the Method: There are total 3,85,000 (2019) employees


working in XYZ Ltd. Out of the total population,
the sample size taken among 130 respondents
from the Commercial Department, Compliance
Department, Human Resource Department,
Design Department and Sales Department. The
data was collected from the respondents by
administering a structured questionnaire and
also through observations, interviews &
discussion with above mentioned department.
Apart from the Primary data the secondary data
is being collected through records of XYZ Ltd.
and used of Internet.

and the largest engineering company in Europe
with branch offices abroad. XYZ was founded on
12th Oct 1847, 168 years ago in Berlin, Kingdom
of Prussia and the founder is Werner Von XYZ.
The principal divisions of the company are
Industry, Energy, Healthcare, and Infrastructure
& Cities, which represent the main activities of
the company. The company is a prominent
maker of medical diagnostics equipment and its
medical health-care division. XYZ and its
subsidiaries employ approximately 362,000
people worldwide and reported global revenue of
around €71.9 billion in 2014 according to their
annual report.
