The Philippine Traditional Games is our cultural treasure, that is loved, enjoyed and
cherished by our ancestors from generation to generations. As for me, the very essence of
playing our Philippine Traditional games is that, it preserves our culture and traditions as a
Filipino, as well as it offers great benefits to ones being. Through the means of the continuous
engagement of youth to our traditional games, it helps them understand better and reconnect
the Filipino cultures and keep these cultural values of our ancestors alive.
Aside from the awakening of our culture, it also helps the youth to develop and improve
their skills not just physically but also emotionally, socially and mentally. It teaches them the
ability to communicate well, socialize with others, be strategic and learn cooperation among
others since games are mostly played by groups. Thus, I can say that Philippine Traditional
Games is greatly significant, for it provides us with a lot of values as an individual and a Filipino.
May it always be practiced and never be forgotten especially in this modern generation so that
we can pass it to the next one.

Yes, definitely! I love to dance and eager to try different dances that would improve me
as an aspiring dancer. As a matter of fact, I’m already familiar with these dances ever since I
was since in elementary, because every intramural there are competitions of ballroom dancing
held by our school. Also, during my junior and senior high school years, I got to perform some
of the ballroom dances such as waltz, cha-cha, swing.
Ballroom dancing is a wide variety of dances to choose from. If given the opportunity to
t a try ballroom dance, I would possibly choose “jive”, because it’s something that is new and
exciting for me. From the definition given, jive is something that is energetic, lively, easy and
fun to perform which caught my attention because it’s something that matches my personality.
Moreover, I love dances that’s fast and uses upbeat and cheerful music because it makes me
want to dance even more. A great way to sweat and do cardio workout as well!

1. Performing ballroom dances provides certain values that improve skills and ability.
Ballroom dancing is developing individual not just physically but also mentality,
emotionally and socially. It builds self-esteem and it increases a sense of well being
and social interaction. Moreover, it provides strong discipline and teamwork
because of all the trainings during the practices. It also improves one’s coordination
and balance. Finally, it exercises not only the body but also the mind as it gives a
positive outcome to ones being.
2. As for me, the social activity where I can apply my skills in ballroom dances is
badminton. In ballroom dancing, we need to have a pair in order to perform the
dance with the common goal to dance gracefully, also in badminton we often have
pairs especially in competitions which requires teamwork and coordination which is
a skill taught in ballroom dances. Apart from that, I can practice the discipline during
trainings that is required in any ballroom dances to the sport badminton in order to
achieve the physical skills and attributes such as proper coordination, posture,
balance, control and strength.

3. The type of ballroom dance that I would suggest my family to try and learn is foxtrot.
To be honest, my family is already knowledgeable about some of the ballroom
dances especially my two siblings who are fond of joining ballroom competition in
their elementary and junior years. And because of that, I want to share something
that is new and more like a smooth dance to them since foxtrot is not often perform
and known in the competitions. As what I have observed in our family, we are fond
of more upbeat types of ballroom dances. And It will be fun to learn and explore
something new together with my family out of our comfort.
