Unit Activity 1

In my personal opinion, performing arts is the most effective therapy among the other
classification of art because it makes use of our physical body, voice and object around us.
Performing arts is all about self-expression and embracing individuality. It inspires us to be
creative, confident and express our emotions.
COVID 19 pandemic is a very difficult time for each and everyone. Many of us greatly
suffers financially, emotionally and mentality. And as someone who is not very talented in
visual and literary arts, I was more inclined to performing arts as my coping mechanism in
surviving this whole pandemic. Back when I was in my junior and senior years I always
participate in dances, plays and other presentations in school, with or without grades involve. I
enjoy performing because through that I can express my emotions and feelings. It also develops
my skills and ability. When the pandemic happened, I was a bit frustrated that I can never do
something that I enjoy doing which is performing, however, luckily because of today’s modern
generation with technologies and social medias I can just record myself and share it with my
friends and family and even other people can also see. Apps such as Facebook, TikTok and
Instagram is where I can share my videos and have an interaction to my audience. It gives me a
feeling of performing on stage and being able to express myself through my dance covers and
plays that I do. Doing this makes me less lonely because I can do something that I love and I can
share it to a bigger audience even though it is virtual it feels rewarding especially when I receive
positive feedbacks and comments from the people. Making people around me happy and doing
something I like is what keeps me motivated to continue doing covers. It is a perfect outlet to
relive stress because I can distract myself from the negative effects brought by the pandemic.
Also, it makes me feel better about myself, performing makes me confident and little by little
learning to embrace my body. Moreover, it is also a way of exercising my body which I really
need in this pandemic because I just usually say at home and do basically sitting all day and
answering the modules so dancing is a perfect exorcise for me. Lastly, redevelop my skills in
performing arts. When you love what you, nobody can stop you. Just as what the quote by Anni
Albers says “Art is something that makes you breath with different kind of happiness.”
Unit 2: Collage

Explanation:
Art is a lie that make us realize the truth- Picasso
In humble opinion, an artwork that ceased to have a function can still be called an art
but a less valued art. Artworks are made through the creative minds of the artists expressing
their thoughts and feelings that is why it will remain as an art. Every art has a purpose, it only
stops functioning when people stop or starts to ignore its value.
The Philosophical perspective on art plays an essential function in our lives such as the
imitation, representation, as disinterested judgement and as communicating of emotions. In the
collage that I created, I chose artworks that signify each function. Also, there are inspirational,
famous artworks that give impact to many lives of the people and others are not known. These
paintings are mix of known and unknown, some have brought a huge purpose to inspire others
and other is less, however, all of this is an art. It is only based on how the people can appreciate
the meaning of art and can make it change their life. Philosophical perspective of art, brings life
to the artworks as it changes for every person around it. It is crucial to foster art appreciation and
analysis, as it helps us value art in how it appeals to us and what it means to each person.

Unit 3: Lay Out Map

Production Process
1. First, I think of an idea in the designs that I will be painting. I chose to paint an abstract
with a topic about women empowerment which is timely and relevant.
2. Second, I think of the technique that I will be using in painting. I decided to go on with
oil painting.
3. Third, I gathered all the necessary materials that will be used in the painting such as the
canvas, the painting tools, brushes and oils in the painting.
4. Fourth, I will choose a perfect space to work on my painting to begin with my artwork.
Start by sketching and my idea will eventually progress as I paint.
5. After painting, I will let it dry.

Technique:
Oil painting
- Is one of the most practiced technique by most artist around the world. The paints are
made by mixing pigments of oils like poppy seed oil, walnut oil, Linseed oil and
safflower oil. It creates a wide range of opacity and intensity in your art.
- One famous example of oil painting is Mona Lisa made by one and only Leonardo da
Vinci.
- The main advantage of oil painting is the ability of being flexible and depth of color.
Slow drying time allows the artist to blend strokes of color and make changes during the
painting process.

Curation to be used:

The painting can be displayed in our home and serve as an aesthetically pleasing
decoration.

Also, can be exhibited in a museum since the artwork is inspirational through its meaning
and ideas and some hidden in the painting.

Victorio Edades

Victorio Edades is a known Filipino painter and the “The Father of Modern
Philippines Painting”. He introduced modern art to the Philippines when it was still
largely a conservative society. The public was not ready to appreciate his works, and not
one of his painting was sold. Unlike Amorsolo’s bright, sunny and cheerful hues, Edades
color were dark and somber with subject matter or themes depicting laborer, factory
workers or the simple folk in all dirt, sweat and grime. His art style is “modernism”.
Painting of Edades was distorted human figures in rough, bold impastos strokes and
standing tall and singular in his advocacy and practice of what he believes is creative art.

composition and dark colors.
