Chapter 1-1 : Cutter Holder XD-CH3

• Cutting Method : Swivel Type Cutter

Swivel Type Cutter is a cutting device that swivels the
blade to cut vinyl.

• Cutter Holder = XD-CH3

1. Top and bottom bearings inside the Cutter Holder
allows blade to swivel.
2. By using XD-CH3, amount of blade extension is
adjustable to allow users to widen the range of vinyl
which could be cut.

• Adjustable Blade Extension in XD-CH3
Amount of Blade Extension is adjustable depending
on the material to be cut.

• Optimal Amount of Blade Extension . . . .

Adjust the blade extension by referring to the result
of test-cut being performed.

• Difficulties of Using XD-CH3 with STIKA
As STIKA is an inexpensive device introduced to the
private users or for Simple & Easy Sign Making, the
flatness in the Bed is not too accurate.
Therefore, when the blade extension is adjusted, it
may result in some problems where it leaves uncut
portion in the cutting image.
In this case, lengthen the blade extension.

Warp in the Bed.

• Advantage of Using XD-CH3
Thinner materials can be cut better by adjusting the
blade extension very carefully to be longer than the
thickness of the vinyl and shorter than the thickness
of the whole material.

Chapter 1-2 : Blade Offset

• Offset of the Original Blade ZEC-U1005

Tip of the blade for swivel cutter is offset from its
center. Standard Roland blade has an offset of
0.25mm. It is necessary to setup the offset of blade
in Windows Driver in order to have the proper cutting
done.

Offset

Offset
Blade Offset _ continue
• What happens if Offset is setup wrongly ?
If the offset setup in Windows Driver doesn’t match
the offset of the blade, cutting image could be ruined.

Offset is set smaller. Good Result Offset is set bigger.

Chapter 1-3 : Tool Pressure

• Fixed Tool Pressure

Tool Pressure is fixed to 120g ~ 130g.
It is not adjustable.

The up/down movement of the tool is controlled by

the Solenoid located at the left side of the machine.

Solenoid
Chapter 1-4 : Media Feeding System

• Media Feeding System

There are only 2 Grit Rollers for STIKA.
Therefore, the width of the media is fixed as below.
Smaller media than below cannot be loaded.

STX-8 : 11in. ~ 12in. (280mm ~ 305mm)

STX-7 : 7-13/16in. ~ 8-7/16in. (200mm ~ 215mm)
Chapter 1-5 : Limit Detection

• Limit Detection by Losing Motor-steps

There is no limit sensor or switch for STIKA.
Therefore, it detects limit by losing motor-steps. CPU
detects the limit when there is change in the current
supplied to the motor.

After limit is detected, Carriage moves +270.5mm for

STX-8 and +174.5mm for STX-7, and Grit Roller moves
+0.25 to setup the origin.
Chapter 1-6 : Consumable

• Cutter Pad
Cutting problems such as stitch-cut, starting & ending
points don’t match, pin-holes, etc, could occur when
there are scratches on the Cutter Pad.
It is recommended to replace it when there are
scratches.

Chapter 2-1 : Firmware Upgrade

• Firmware cannot be upgraded

Firmware is written in the CPU. Therefore, it is not
possible to upgrade the firmware except by replacing
the Main Board.
Chapter 2-2 : Gear Backlash

• Purpose
Motors used on STIKA is not as strong as the one used on
the CAMM-1 or CAMM-1Pro.
Therefore, it is very important to check and make sure
that the Carriage and Grit Roller move within the correct
load.

Chapter 3-4 : No Up / Down Movement in Tool

• No Up / Down Movement in Tool

Tool doesn’t move up or down at all even the Carriage
and Media move.

• Cause
Spring comes off from the Guide Bar, and therefore,
tool pressure cannot be applied.

It happens during transportation in most cases.
