1. Yes, I think that studying and comprehending pre-colonial history is vital because it helps people
understand the past, which helps them understand the present. The history was presented in such a way
that it gave them a perspective on their own cultures as well as cultures with which they were unfamiliar,
fostering cross-cultural awareness and understanding. The Filipinos gained a better awareness of the
world thanks to history, and Rizal's presentation made it clear that they must embrace it. Rizal wanted the
Filipinos to remember their pre-colonial history, therefore the presentation was designed to help them
comprehend that you can't construct a foundation for your life without first learning how things function
in the world.
2. Rizal was well aware that the Filipinos' backwardness was blamed on their indolence in Spanish
colonial discourse. Rizal stated that the suffering of a people who have not been granted freedom should
be attributed to their rulers rather than the people themselves. Backwardness led to instances of
oppression and exploitation, such as land seizures, excessive labor, exorbitant taxes, and forced labor
without pay, all of which contribute to the Filipinos' unwillingness to work. He noted it in his book and
demanded that working practices be adjusted in tropical regions.
