Covid-19 Pandemic and India

Covid-19 pandemic has been the buzz word that everyone has been hearing about in the
recent few months. The epidemic has taken a big toll on the entire world. With most of the
countries going into confinement there is panic, despair, uncertainty and worry seen on
everyone's face. School kids are restless siting indoors during their vacations. Young adults
who have not completed their exams are anxious about their exams, people who will have
to make a decision on their next steps in their career are hazy about their entrance exams
and its schedule. Working class of the society are dubious about their day to day work
without knowing when this would end. People are torn about with a dilemma of not
knowing what needs to be done.

In countries outside India where the epidemic was seen first, the main cause for the
rise in the spread of the virus was due to the fact that these countries did not take
precautionary measures to lockdown the country and practice social distancing which is the
need of the hour. China was successful in bringing the situation under control with their act
of a strict lock down across the country. Italy, UK, USA and few other countries are very
severely affected and the toll is rising. However they have now taken strict measures to lock
down and bring the situation under control. The port of entries into the country and cities
within the country are being shut. This would also help in avoiding the epidemic from being
spread across the cities within the country.

India as a country is now taking measures to ensure that the situation does not go
out of control as in the neighbouring nations. There has been a significant rise in the
number of people who are already affected in the country. In these times of containing
oneself indoors though a community of people can work from home there is a larger class of
society who need to step out there for their bread and butter and earn their daily wages.
These are the hardest hit and are exposed to more vulnerability. The livelihood of these
daily labourers are questionable. During these times the least fulfilling act that the
community of people who have the flexibility to working from home should exercise is
humanness towards these people and should consider being socially distant. They should
practice strict quarantine and stay indoors and avoid being a carrier of the virus and
spreading the virus. This can help breaking the spread of the virus and bring the situation
under control. The citizens of India should unite together irrespective of their caste, creed,
religious and political differences and fight this cause and act wisely in helping eradicating
this epidemic.
