Course Information and Contracts

The course objectives will be consistent with guidelines established by Irvine Unified School District. An assignment
calendar (due dates for assignments) will be provided online, by email, or as a handout for all courses. Additional course
information including: course objectives, study methods, methods of evaluation, and manner for submitting assignments
will be included in the course syllabus. Any subsidiary agreement(s) are considered a part of this agreement, including:
course syllabus, assignment calendars, course schedule, add/drop information, student/parent handbook, and student
registration forms and data confirmation.

Student and Parent Agreements

● Student participation in virtual learning is mutually voluntary.
● Parent agrees that the course of study shall be the counselor approved, grade-level specific curriculum,
based on IUSD pathways.
● Students will be provided with teacher support services, curriculum guides, textbooks, workbooks, or
related instructional materials, depending on course needs. Students are not provided with anything of value that is
not provided for all other students enrolled in the Irvine Unified School District.
● Coursework in independent study will be of equivalent time and rigor as the in-person equivalent
coursework. Students should expect to spend as much time on coursework as they would at the comprehensive
school site. Students must be on pace with each course weekly.
Grade Level Annual Minutes
Grades 6 - 54,000 = 300 daily
Grades 7 – 8 54,000 = 300 daily
Grades 9 – 12 64,800 = 360 daily
● Parents agree to meet with the supervising teacher as required (i.e. parent/student/teacher conference or
upon teacher request).
● The student and parent will assume full responsibility for getting to the scheduled meetings.
● When a student fails to complete or misses either three assignments or three scheduled meetings, an
evaluation will be conducted to determine whether it is in the student's best interest to continue in blended learning.
● Parents agree that students will receive official grades for each course by the assigned teacher.

 ● All materials issued are the property of the Irvine Unified School District and must be returned to Irvine
Virtual Academy @ San Joaquin Middle School upon completion or termination of this agreement. Parents agree to
pay for any lost or damaged materials.
● The student must follow all regulations governing student conduct in Irvine Unified, including the
Acceptable Use Policy and Academic Integrity Policy (Board Policy & Administrative Regulations #5131.9 and
Education Code).
● Authorized student visitations to any other Irvine Unified School District campus require administrative
permission from the school to be visited.
● This agreement shall not exceed one school year from the initial date that the agreement is signed.
● Any assignments given while this agreement is in effect shall be completed on or before the due date.
