Topic Angles

Class Description Narrative - The friendly monsters of Monsterville always liked amusement parks. But they were not
let in because they might scare off the visitors! This always made the monsters very sad. So, Jesper,
their friend, decided to build one for them. Let’s help him out!
Math -

The lesson utilizes the knowledge of partitioning a circle into four parts of equal area to understand the
meaning of an angle using a circle and defining the degree measure of an angle by relating it to angles
in a circle. The lesson further extends to define the coordinate system by using a pair of perpendicular
number lines, called axes, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the 0
on each line.

1. Have you ever seen how the floors in a lift
are represented? How do we mark the floors
below the ground floor on the lift?
● Positive numbers are greater than 0. They
can be written with or without a positive sign
(+).
● Negative numbers are less than 0. They are
written with a negative sign (-).
2. Why do we mark them with negative
numbers?
● Since the numbers are below 0 that is why
we use negative sign for the negative
numbers.
● Integers are a group of negative numbers,
Answer Screenshot - (WB-2) 0, and positive numbers and can be
represented on the horizontal and vertical
number lines. Number line can be horizontal
as well as vertical.(WB-1)
(Emphasize that -3 is read as negative 3 not minus 3;
minus is an operator whereas negative is a symbol to
denote numbers below zero)
Ask-
1. How many floors are there below the
0 level?
● Ans: 3 floors.
2. After looking at the number line,
which is the lowest floor on the

number line?
● Ans: - 3, as on the vertical
number line, the numbers
above are greater than the
numbers below.
AA3-Q1 3. How will you mark the lowest level
of parking, that is, -3 on the number
line?
● Ans: On the number line, -3
will be at the same distance
from 0 as the distance
between 0 and 3. Thus, we
will move down from 0 till 3
to reach -3.(WB-2)
Steps -
1. Explain the students what integers are and
how they are used in real-life instances.
2. Make them understand that integers are a
combination of positive numbers, zero, and
negative numbers.
3. Make the student understand how to mark
integers on the number line.

Knowledge Points/Evidence of Learning: Marking integers on the number line.
