1. What was the scenery of Marianne dream?

Ans. Marianne was in a great open field, flat like a prairie, covered, as far as she could
see, with the long dry grass in which she could standing more than knee deep. Even there
was nothing around her no roads, no paths, no hills and no valleys.
2. What did Marianne see first?
Ans. Marianne saw a faint trickle of smoke and she walked towards the faint trickle of
smoke.
3. How was the ground under her feet?
Ans. The ground was rutted and uneven, and the grass harsh and prickling.
4. From where did the faint trickle of smoke raise?
Ans. The smoke raised in the windless air from the chimney of a house.
5. How was the house?
Ans. The house was looking so curious, with leaning walls, even it`s windows and doors
were blank and shut.
6. How the house do looked outside?
Ans. There were some large pale yellow flowers which Marianne could not recognize.
7. What was moving outside the house?
Ans. the smoke was rising from the chimney which was the one moving outside.
8. What was the reaction of Marianne looking at the house?
Ans. Marianne did not like the house especially the blank staring windows and the bare
front doors but she liked the prairie which was even less categorized.
9. What happened when she came nearer to the house?
Ans. There was no knocker and there was no bell but Marianne knocked the door but no
one responded.
10. How did she want to open the door?
Ans. She looked around for a stone to beat the door. But there was only a stone and it was
too big.
11. What happened after the blowing the wind?
Ans. In the grass path the grass whistled and rustled, dry stock became bent. So that she
could see the path. Everything became alive with movement of the wind.
12. What did Marianne say herself?
Ans. She said “I`m frightened here, I`ve to got to get away from the grass and the stones
and the wind.
13. What did Marianne think?
Ans. She think that she could get in if anyone was inside the house. She couldn`t get in
the house if anyone wasn`t in the house.
14. Why did she cry?
Ans. Because there was no one inside the house.
15. What did the silent answer and what did Marianne protest?
Ans. The silent said put someone inside the house. But Marianne protested that how
could she put someone inside the house. Even she couldn`t get herself in and she wanted
to get inside the house.
16. What did Marianne realize after waking up?
Ans. She realized that the house and the prairie had gone.
