Which is the best automatic car in India? What is the smallest and best automatic car in
India?
But not all transmissions are great. With the current product portfolio in the market, I’d
pick the AMT (with a +/- for manual over ride unlike the Renault Kwid’s dial type shifting) if
I’m looking at compact hatchbacks like the Alto K10 / Tata Tiago . Also, there’s no real
alternative here.
If I’m looking at a slightly premium hatch like the Honda Jazz , I’d pick the CVT. Again
because there is no real alternative. There’s a Ford Figo DCT but it just doesn’t sell that
well to make it a sustainable option when it comes to re-sale value.
If I’m looking at compact SUVs like the Ford EcoSport / Hyundai Creta , I’d take the
Torque Converter again because I can’t digest having a AMT at this price point that the
Renault Duster and Tata Nexon offer.
Now, if I’m considering a sedan or SUV, anywhere north of Rs. 15 Lakhs - I’d stick to the
DSG or DCT because of the ultra quick shifts with literally no breaks in power.

The average budget of an Indian to buy a car is 10 Lakhs. But at this price range I don't
think any preferable automatic car fits. So I'm going to tell you about cars that is within the
range of 15–20 lakhs. Let's us first talk about Sedan first. In this range Honda City used to
be the best sedan till the next gen Hyundai Verna is launched. Right now Verna 1.6 D
SX(O)AT is the best in segment with more features(some of them are first in class
segment), safety, comfort, practicality. It's desiel engine is so tuned that torque provided
by it is one of the best in segment and there is almost no lag. But there are less leg room
in the back seat and due to coupe like roof line,if you are more than 6 ft. then you may
find less head room. Appart from this there is no consbin verna. But if want to choose a
petrol one then Honda City is still the best and I don't think I need to say anything about
this car.
Now let's talk about the presnt market leader, that is the compact and mid size SUVS. And
within the price range of 15–20 lakhs only two automatic SUV fits. One is Hyundai creta
and the other is Jeep Compass. But you have to buy their petrol version only since Compass
don't have a diesel automatic and Creta diesel will cost nearly 24 Lakhs. So in petrol
automatic I think Jeep Compass is a good option. It looks more like a SUV and comes with
ride mode selector. But if you like to use your SUV for small run then I will prefer Creta.
Better handling, comfort and Hyundai's availability across the country makes it a preferable
one. So here your choice matters whether you need a proper off roading SUV or you want
a daliy life one.
And lastly let's talk about Hatchback. People usually buy a Hatchback within the range of 8
lakhs. Here the problem is Hatchbacks which are preferable one , doesn't come with
automatic option. Maruti has a long list of automatic Hatchbacks. But they are nothing but
garbage in the name of automatic transmission. However if you want a Hatchbacks to
provide service in OLA or UBER, you can go for Celerio AT. But please don't buy WagonR.
This is the worst car ever still running successfully in Indian roads. No safety, outdated
design, poor aerodynamics makes it the worst one.

Hello,
The best automatic car in India depends on the various categories of what is seen in a car.
When it comes to price, the top car which is most popular in the country at the moment is
the Renault Kwid which comes at a price range of Rs.2.76 lakh to Rs.4.75 lakh. Apart from
the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki’s Celerio is also a top competitor in the hatchback
category when it comes to price. The Celerio comes at an on-road price range of Rs.4.31
lakh to Rs.5.48 lakh. The new Maruti Suzuki Alto has also been a top contender in the
hatchback category with automatic transmission sporting new features with each variant.
The price of the Alto is at a range between Rs.3.66 lakh to Rs.4.45 lakh at exclusive
showrooms.
In the compact SUV category, the Tata Nexon has taken the Indian market by storm and
can easily outdo its competitors in the aspect of style and pricing. The Tata Nexon comes
at a price range of Rs.6.58 lakh to Rs.11 lakh at exclusive showrooms. In the same category,
Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza has been a popular car on the streets and has seen a good response
with its automatic transmission variant. The car comes in a wide variety of colours with
various other features to its name. Now, the price of the car on road at exclusive
showrooms is Rs.7.68 lakh to Rs.10.65 lakh. Apart from this, Maruthi Suzuki’s all-new Swift
and Hyundai’s i20 has seen a glorious response in the past few years, with the i20 receiving
the Car of the Year Award in 2015.
In the Sedan category, 4 cars stand out among others, the Hyundai Verna, the new Swift
Dzire, the Toyota Yaris and of course, the Honda City. All these cars are packed with
powerful features, impeccable safety features, state-of-the-art infotainment systems, next-
generation tyres, and braking systems and much more.
Needless to say, the best automatic car in India depends on the category of the car you
wish to buy and also your price range. These cars mentioned in the article are among the
best in their category and price range as well. To know more, it is always better to research
thoroughly on the cars you feel would suit your needs and visit the dealerships to see and
test drive the car in order to make your final decision.

An automatic car is a great idea, as it significantly reduces the stress of driving, especially
during peak office hours. It eases your drive, even when there’s heavy and slow-moving
traffic. Rather than look for automatic transmission, you should check out cars with AMT,
or Automated Manual Transmission.
Among the AMT vehicles launched in 2019, the one that has become the talk of town is
the Mahindra XUV300 AMT . Experts have given this vehicle extremely good reviews.
And, the user ratings are also very high. The 1.5 liter diesel version of the Mahindra
XUV300 is probably the best choice among AMT vehicles available today. It has a
powerful 115 bhp engine, with torque of 300 Nm at 1,500-2,500 rpm. At the same time, it
offers mileage of around 20Kms to a liter. It drives very smoothly, and its interiors are
stylish. There’s a lot of legroom as well as space to store various things, like bottles, wallets
and phones.
