Assignment 2

Social issues faced by students 9-12 (14-18 year


group)

1. Adolescence spans in the age group from 10 to 19 years which


include nutritional deficiency as a major issue where nearly 10-
30 per cent suffer from health impacting behaviors and
conditions that need urgent attention of health professionals.

2. Poverty is also a major problem in India which effects the


children’s education in backward areas that socially exploits
their needs and future life.

3. The lack of good social skills increase the use of Internet in this
age group individuals that alleviate psychological problems in
them (i.e. loneliness, depression)

4. Adolescents aged 10–19 years suffer with different mental


disorders like anxiety, depression and stress these affect
student’s academic and personal life as well.

5. The biggest problem student’s face is getting enough sleep, it is


very important to get a proper sleep as the performance of the
student depends on a sound sleep.

6. One major problem students of this age group face is


competition. Students are afraid of failing. They are scared of
letting their parents and family down.

7. In 21st century, cyberbullying and online harassment is a new


form of social issue. Cyberbullying can result in harmful
bullying behavior in form of rumors, threats and sexual
remarks.
8. Social Networking Sites (SNS) creates a distraction in this age
group which may result in a poor psychological state and
suicidal ideation due to its addiction.

9. In spite of providing free primary education, the illiteracy rate


in India is extremely high which falls true in economic
backward classes where parents would like to send their
children to earn some part money rather than in high schools.

10. The ill effects of Internet addiction include withdrawal from


real-life relationships, decrease in participation of academic
activities and a nervous mood. Internet use for non-academic
purposes is increasing that should be monitored and stopped in
order to remove these harmful impacts on students.

11. Alcohol use among adolescents is a major concern in many


countries. It is an underlying cause of injuries (including those due
to road traffic accidents), violence and premature deaths in these
group age students.

12. At an equivalent time, globalization needs to be assessed


properly in Indian schools especially for these age group students
in order to move ahead of the limited resources (educational
structure) one encompasses in pursuing his career.

13. Providing a strong basic education for students is what I


personally believe to be an asset in their future life. This makes it
extremely important to supply these students with the programs
and services they deserve.
14. Independence and getting freedom at this stage of life is what a
student looks for where a student of this age group generally feels
like most of their problems will end if they get dependent while
they should understand that moment ay come later in their life.

15. The problem of 'No one understands me' is a statement that


everyone in its adolescence age must have come up to speak of or
listen of it. Understanding the state of these age group isn't easy
but providing extra space and listening provides comfort to them.

16. The problem of Identity, sometimes students of these age


groups try to define themselves and try find out the answer 'Who
am I' which is difficult at times and can lead to frustration.

17. Sexual abuse and Violence during adolescence causes risk of


injuries, poor school performance and traumas that can affect in
the long run of their life.

18. Change in relationship a student in this age group will lead to


conflict and starts spending less time with parents in comparison
to the time with friends which affects their behaviour overall.

19. The misuse of smartphones in online gaming addiction has


severely been addressed in this age group where these teenagers
spend a lot of time in front of their mobile or computer screens.

20. The development of extracurricular activities, interests and


hobbies should be addressed of and the student should be
motivated to pursue an interest or a passion, meet like-minded
people, or develop new skills and abilities.
