Because evething uses a smartphone, is makes youth addicted

Indonesia is Asia's "raksasa teknologi digital tidur". Indonesia's population of 250 million is a

large market. Smartphone users in Indonesia are also growing rapidly. The digital marketing

research institute Emarketer estimates that in 2018 the number of active smartphone users in

Indonesia is more than 100 million people. With such a large number, Indonesia will become

the country with the fourth largest active smartphone users in the world after China, India and

America. however, over time the Indonesian millennial generation is vulnerable to

smartphone addiction. The level of smartphone addiction is already at an alarming level.

It is undeniable that over time, many features and applications on smartphones are

increasingly attractive and make users want to continue using them. In fact, behind the great

benefits, smartphones also have a negative impact that is quite detrimental to users, for

example, can make users infected with smartphone addiction.

So what is smartphone addiction or addiction? Why this happened?

Smartphone addiction is a maladaptive pattern or behavior (not according to environmental

demands) that arises due to excessive smartphone use (Kwon et al, 2013). One of the

characteristics of smartphone addiction is the disruption of daily life. Individuals with

smartphone addiction will find it difficult to carry out their daily obligations, such as not

doing planned work, difficulty concentrating while in class or at work, experiencing

dizziness/blurred vision, wrist/back neck pain and sleep disturbances.

According to Data from the Digital Marketing Emarketer research institute shows that in

2018 the number of active smartphone users in Indonesia was more than 100 million people.

We Are Social Institute (2017) stated that the number of cellular phones in the country

reached 371.4 million or 142 percent of the total population of 262 million. Cell phones are

spread out for more use than their users. This means that one mobile user can have more than

one mobile phone.

Online games are the main factor destroying the nation's morale.
Online games are indeed widely practiced by young people, especially in the last few years in line

with the online game industry which is increasingly experiencing growth. Even the value of the online

game industry is able to exceed the value of the television industry, it can be seen from the percent

increase between the two. This will definitely affect the economic growth in this country. But apart

from that, online games have become a hobby for young people today. It's not just a hobby, in fact

young people are even addicted to online games. Not something good, of course, for young people

today. Especially for young people who are still closed, online games are the reason they skip school.

Not only that, addiction to online games also has an impact on the physical and psychological

conditions of young people. In addition to acting impulsively, online game addicts will experience a

decrease in focus when doing something so that it will have an impact on the achievement and

productivity of young people. sometimes their emotions become unstable, even to the point that some

of them are anti-social.

If the online game industry continues to skyrocket incessantly, what will happen to the nation's assets

for young people? Because they are the main target for online games.

Allow young people to be lazy to be creative because they are busy with things that are not useful. A

lot of time that they should have used to develop their potential is wasted because it is used to satisfy

online game addiction.

The economic growth of a country does not have to sacrifice the fate of the younger generation. That

is the result of the capitalist system, which seeks to obtain the maximum economic profit without

regard to the bad effects.

In fact, Indonesia is one of the largest gaming industry markets in the world. Especially mobile games

or video games played via cell phones, tablet computers, or consoles.Based on We Are Social,

Indonesia has the third largest number of video game players in the world. The report notes that

94.5% of internet users aged 16-64 years in Indonesia are playing video games as of January 2022.
The use of foreign languages shows a diminishing sense of nationalism.

As a social creature, language cannot be separated from human life because humans always

communicate and interact to meet the needs of both primary and secondary needs. In this era of

globalization, more and more young people are fluent in foreign languages. In fact, they often use

foreign languages, such as English, rather than Indonesian and regional languages.According to the

Big Indonesian Dictionary, a foreign language is a language belonging to another nation that is

mastered, usually through formal education and which socioculturally is not considered a language of

its own. Meanwhile, the sense of nationalism according to the Big Indonesian Dictionary is knowing

(Teachings) to love one's own nation and country. The use of foreign languages in daily

communication shows a lack of a person's sense of nationalism, meaning that the use of languages

belonging to other nations that are controlled and not considered as their own language in daily

communication shows a lack of feeling to love their own nation and country. The influence of foreign

languages greatly affects the development of the Indonesian language, for example, the Indonesian

people will gradually forget that Indonesian is the language of unity, children begin to despise

Indonesian reading, over time the Indonesian people will find it difficult to speak good and correct

Indonesian. able to reduce the spirit of nationalism and pride in their own language and

culture.Indonesian language is now starting to lose its identity, starting to be underestimated by

various groups. some even admit that by speaking Indonesian, they are considered not slang. Whereas

as we know that Indonesian is included in the cultural aspect, and that culture exemplifies the

nationalism of a country. Argument

Thus, foreign languages can eliminate national identity as the state language and also the language of

the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia as a unifying tool for the nation which will gradually be

forgotten by the Indonesian people. Usually the use of foreign languages begins with increasing trends

from abroad on social media, increasing films from abroad, as well as the breadth of social media
showing the fashion styles and language styles of foreign artists, so that over time young people in

Indonesia imitate them. and slowly Indonesian culture will disappear.

Brawls/other bad habits are the result of the burden of studying at school.

Educating children is a challenge that is not easy for every parent. Where parents must accompany the

development of children from time to time. Of course this can not be separated from the various

problems faced by children during their lifetime. Children with more complex problems when the

child has entered adolescence. The wider the social life of the child, the easier it is for him to make

new friends and associations. It could be that the wrong social style has a negative influence on the

way children behave in everyday life. One of the social impacts that need to be watched out for is

student brawling behavior. In Indonesia, there are many cases of student brawls that occur between

schools. Usually brawls that occur between students are caused by small conflicts which then develop

into group tension. Children who fall into this group will certainly be affected and participate in

fights. Brawl is a mass fight that is carried out in groups or in groups. In this case, brawl is a form of

juvenile delinquency. Physically and psychologically, adolescents enter a period of transition. Where

they will feel unstable emotional and physical changes due to the hormonal system and glands in the

body that work biologically. This allows adolescents to seek social status to be considered by joining

certain groups. If a child belongs to a certain group or gang at school, of course this can have various

negative influences on him. The following are some of the causes of brawls :

1. Rivalry Between Schools

2. Less Supervision

3. Firmness of Schools and Government

4. Peer Pressure According to

DAKTA.COM - Throughout January to June 2022, the Indonesian Child Protection
Commission (KPAI) recorded a number of violence involving teenagers. The results of the
monitoring show that school violence and brawls have re-emerged after Face-to-Face Learning
PTM) was held, even though there was a COVID-19 pandemic. "It turns out, even though the
COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped teenagers from getting into fights. In addition to brawls,
there are incidents of youth beating a teenager whose video has gone viral, such as what
happened in the city square of Semarang and in the city of Cimahi," said Retno Listyarti,
Commissioner of KP

their quality.

Millennials have more bad sides than good ones.

The term millennial generation is already familiar. The term millennial comes from a term coined by

two American historians and writers, William Strauss and Neil Howe in several of their books.

The millennial generation is one of the groups of people who are often in the spotlight. This group

does have strong characteristics and often dominates in society. However, this generation also has a

negative side. Here are 5 negative sides of the millennial generation that need to be understood so that

they can be avoided:

1. Millennial Generation Consumptive Generation

The lifestyle of this generation tends to be impulsive. They are very sensitive to the times and are

interested in spending money to keep up with these developments.

2. Millennials Get Bored Easily

There are so many millennials who decide to change jobs frequently. This is caused by boredom if

you have to work in one place for a long time.

3. Classified as spoiled

This generation is often considered still very dependent on the existence of their parents. This fact is

supported by data showing that most of this generation still lives with their parents. Despite having

the ability to be independent, this generation tends to choose a comfort zone with their parents.

4. Too Chasing Fame

This generation is known to have excellent self-confidence. Their mentality is strong enough to be in

the midst of society. But this is also accompanied by an obsession with popularity earlier. That
obsession can develop in a negative direction and make this generation too selfish to pursue

popularity.

5. Impatient

people in this generation group also tend to be impatient. They prefer things that are instant or quick

to achieve. This trait can certainly have a negative impact on the millennial generation if it is not

controlled optimally.

According to previous generations, the millennial generation is now growing in a worse direction.

They are narcissistic, gadget enthusiast, selfish, and spoiled. Various 'negative facts' about the

millennial generation are also very visible in our eyes, including having an attitude that tends to be

selfish and doesn't care about socialization. Another negative fact is that narcissistic disorder is almost

3 times found in people in their 20s compared to the current generation who are 65 years and over.

Millennials, or those born in 1990 and above, are considered to have many bad sides by previous

generations. Lately, there have been many immoral cases committed by teenagers, especially students.

Whether it's a case of porn videos, bullying, harassment or other cases.

Because in this era everything is easy to do, it makes the youthful spirit fade .
Youth who live in the village are better than those who live in the city
New culture gives youth a negative impact.
The main factor of youth mental health disorders comes from school.

Mental health is an issue of concern to today's society. Such phenomena are related to the

modernization of science and technology, causing various psychological and social problems in the

school and family environment. Mental health in schools is a new issue. Most mental disorders begin

in adolescence and poor mental health is related to educational outcomes, health, and negative social.

In addition, the meaning of life and the level of individual religiosity also affect the mental health

condition experienced by the individual. Mental health includes 3 (three) components, namely: mind,

emotional, and spiritual. Children who have good mental health are characterized by being able to

build and develop resilience (endurance) in the face of pressures in life. This resilience ability needs

to be developed through family life and the school environment. The phenomenon of mental health

that occurs in the school environment is in the form of academic stress conditions experienced by

students. Poor social relations at school also contribute to mental ill health for students. As in the

study, it was explained that the depression experienced by students in the school environment was due

to antisocial behavior. It was also found that as many as 20% of adolescents had experienced health

problems. Furthermore, it was also found that there was unproductive learning due to individuals

experiencing psychological problems in the educational environment. Based on this, it is necessary

to develop mental health in schools so that students are active and excel in learning, have good social

relationships, are able to plan career directions and make career direction decisions. the achievement

of individual self-actualization in the field of personal, social relations, planning the direction of his
career, and his work. This becomes an important reference in building quality education through

mentally healthy students in the school, family and community environment.

Dr. (Hc) dr Hasto Wardoyo SPOG Head of the Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN)

said that based on the 2018 Basic Health Research Data (Rikesda) the mental health of Indonesian

children experienced mild mental health disorders by 9.8 percent.

The Rikesda data collection carried out every five years recorded an increase in Indonesian children

experiencing errors compared to the same Rikesda data in 2013 which was only recorded at 6.1

percent.

"Children who experience errors are invited to go forward, study is difficult, and their job is only to

wander or play with cellphones, and over time they will live in their own nature and thoughts," said

Hasto Wardoyo.
