The Importance of Comprehending English as a Universal Language

Why is it necessary for us to study English? Is it critical? We have our language;

learning another language could be a major source of stress, don't you think? Maybe
we've all had those thoughts. If some of you were interested in the answer, I'd make
a few points in simple concepts.

Good morning, Bonjour, Guten Morgen. The honorable judges, the respectable
English Committee, and the other generous participant. Firstly, let us thank God for
his blessing so that we can gather around in SEAS FESTIVAL, especially speech
competitions. Then, I am very pleased to the STIP English Committee regarding a
chance to deliver my speech. My name is Andika Rivaldi, I am from Nautical
Department 1 Alpha Class. On this occasion, I’d like to give a speech about “The
Importance of Comprehending English as a Universal Language”.

Mastering English is crucial for a reason, ladies and gentlemen.

First and foremost, English is an international language, and we currently live in a
globalized world. This means that when dealing with people from other countries,
individuals from all over the world utilize English. There are two people, for example.
The first is from Japan, while the second is from French. I'm certain, they won't
understand each other when they meet and speak in their respective languages.
However, if they converse English, they will be able to communicate effectively.

So, why is English more dominant instead of French, Dutch, or Japanese? It's a long
short narrative, to be sure. Many years ago, Europe experienced a prosperous
period known as the Renaissance. They traveled the globe in search of a fresh
location. Then, they took over parts of Asian, Australian, and African areas together.
English grows from there, eventually becoming a worldwide communication
language.

So, returning to the primary topic, English is a necessary mode of communication.

We can communicate with people from various tribes, ethnicities, and backgrounds
all across the world. As a result, rather than serving as a medium of communication,
English has the potential to bring us together. And we can talk about a variety of
topics, including family, school, global affairs, and so on.

Second, English is the predominant selection for education, especially science.

There are many books written in English; if we don't know it well, we won't be able to
read them. We won't get the point in the aftermath. As a result, English is required to
greatly expand our knowledge. If our generation can master English, I am confident
that we will be a more advanced generation.

Third, English is essential in the specific profession field. In this instance, I would
emphasize maritime industries. In an industry with a strong international presence,
having a common language that everyone on board a vessel can understand and
communicate is essential.
Maritime English, also known as Standard Maritime Communication Phrases
(SMCP), is the lingua franca at sea and is critical for a variety of reasons, including
the safety of the crew, the efficiency of daily tasks, and the ship's integrity.

By using specific terms, Maritime English avoids any confusion that would arise if
normal terms used in everyday life were used. For example, if the captain and a
crew member are in different parts of the ship, the directions left and right can be
rather ambiguous. As a result, English maritime is needed for seafarers.

And, throughout most cases, if a cadet level 3 desires to embark in an abroad sea
project, such as sailing around the world, the primary qualification is the ability to
communicate effectively in English.

To clarify the preceding explanation, it is clear that acknowledging English is critical.

It can be used for communication, education, and especially in the maritime
industries. It may take a long time to learn English. As a necessary consequence,
we must learn it as soon as possible. Initiate by reading a dictionary, learning to
speak with basic vocabulary, or listening to a native speaker's voice to improve your
listening skills.

That’s all for my speech, I know I’ve made a ton of mistakes but then again I’m only
a human, so I’m found to all of them. Thank you for your time. I hope it is beneficial
to you, Have a nice day.
