The domain represents the number of hours (x), while
the range is the estimated amount of electricity
consumptions bill (y). Each domain is paired to only one
range thus, the ordered pairs illustrate a function.
The Ordaniza household is composed of 9 individuals. In
the daily basis, especially during the pandemic which the
children are forced to stay at home, the only entertainment
they could afford is through TV and other online media.
Hence the data shows the increase in the family’s
electricity consumption the more they spend their time in
using these appliances. This only shows that electricity bill
could actually be controlled by limiting and setting standard
on the hours spent in using the appliances.
The amount paid for electricity consumption (y) increases
when the number of hour (x) increases assuming that the
amount of electricity consumed and number of appliances
used are constant. The 100 represents the hourly rate of
the electricity consumption. The constant amount of 550
pesos represents the minimum monthly consumption charge
from bulb lights which are necessary and constantly used by
the family every day.
