HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
GRADE II A

Our traditional arts, handicrafts, fairs, festivals, dances, music, food and other
Art forms make our country very unique. Students will become aware of the
rich and varied artistic traditions of our country through the Art Integrated
Projects as a part of their holiday homework. To make our students aware about the
culture of various states in India students will be doing various activities about other
states. For these activities students have to do all the activities for the state of
ODISHA. Students must complete all the activities given in the holiday homework as
these activities are a part of their project work and students will be given marks for
the same. Students must submit all holiday homework in the school when they'll be
submitting their notebooks for correction in the school.

Cut and stick this outline on the first page of the scrap book, and fill the
details.
Cut and stick this map on half of the art sheet and write this information, and
name and colour the two states.
I live in Maharashtra state and I will learn about the state of Odisha.
Activity 1: English

Materials required:
coloured pictures showing traditional costumes of the chosen state
stationery
art sheet

Procedure:
Collect coloured pictures showing traditional costumes (men and women) of the
chosen state (Odisha)
Write the theme in big letters at the top of the art sheet- (Traditional State
Costume)
Then stick the pictures of men and women wearing the traditional state
costume.
Below the pictures write the names of the costume worn by them
e.g.: woman- salwar, kameez
man- dhoti, kurta,

Activity 2: Math

Materials required:
art sheet
any two traditional state costumes of the chosen state
Procedure:
Refer to the costumes selected in Activity 1.
Measure the length of the two selected costumes using both- hand span and
cubit.
Note the answer on the art sheet:
Length of the ________________ is _______________ hand spans
Length of the ________________ is _______________ cubits.
Ask your mother or father to measure the same costumes using his/her cubit
and hand span and observe the difference. Make a note of this on the art sheet.

Activity 3: Hindi

Materials required:
art sheet made in Activity 1

Procedure:
The student will observe the pictures of men and women stuck on the art
sheet(activity of sticking pictures of traditional state costumes done for
English) and describe the costumes in Hindi in a few lines.

Activity 4: EVS

Materials required:
traditional state costume (man/woman)
Procedure:
The student has to wear the traditional state costume of Odisha [nearly the
same if not exactly the same; please use the clothes present at home; do not
rent or buy them].
The student has to walk a distance and speak two sentences on the costume and
the accessories he/she is wearing. (I am wearing the traditional dress of Odisha
state. It is called _______.)
