1. What is Islam?

Islam is the world's second largest religion with billions of followers called Muslims.
Islam is one of the three central Abrahamic faiths along with Christianity and
Judaism. It is founded by Prophet Muhammad, a mortal who proclaimed the word of
Allah to its people and have it all written down directly from his mouth which comprises
the Qur'an. It is mentioned in the video that the word Islam means "submission". It is the
act of entrusting everything to one God whom they called Allah. Islam is derived
from the root word "Salam" which means peace. Islam being associated with peace
seems to be hard due to the bombings and attacks that happened which blinded other
people of what Islam was really for.

2. What do Muslims believe?

Muslims believe that there is only one God, and that is Allah (SWT). They believe that
He is the Creator of all things, living or non-living. They believe that Allah (SWT)
is merciful, powerful and all-knowing. Prophet Muhammad is believed to be the
Messenger of Allah (SWT). Jesus whom the Christian regarded as the Son of God is
also recognized to this religion as one of the Prophets and mentioned how many times
in Qur'an. Aside from that, Muslims also believe in angels, all prophets, Holy books,
Day of the Judgment and the Afterlife.

3. How do you become a Muslim?

If one is willing to submit himself to the teachings and will of Allah (SWT), a Declaration
of Faith referred to as "Shahada" or a short oral declaration of faith must be recited with
sincere faith and conviction. He must utter the words recognizing Allah as the one and
true God and that Muhammad is the messenger of God. Upon saying it, he is already a
Muslimand a follower of Allah (SWT).

4. Are all Muslims Arab?

No, Muslims are the people who follow the teachings of Islam and who believe in Allah
(SWT). Anyone regardless of race or ethnicity can be a Muslim and it is not necessary
that you are an Arab, afterall not all Arabs are Muslim. Anyone can still choose whatever
religion he wishes to follow.

5. How Islam begin?

Islam begin when Muhammad, the messenger of Allah (SWT) received divine revelation
from Him which he start preaching to people. These revelations happened while he is
meditating and continuously have visions for three nights. Afterwards, he let the writers
write every words he said and is being compiled on their holy book called the Qur'an. It
is not arranged by book but rather through the words that came out on his mouth.
The followers of Islam follow this teachings until it reaches number of people who
became the follower of the religion.

6. How has it attracted adherents in other parts of the world?

Islam successfully attracted adherents from different parts of the world through trade
and conquest. As Muslims went trading to other places, they brought the teachings with
them that influence other people as well. It can also spread through conquest wherein a
Muslim leader reigns over the population thus aid in the increase of Muslim followers.

7. Who is the prophet Muhammad?

Muhammad (SAW) is a mortal man not a divine man. He lives ordinarily in Mecca with
his parents. He is married to Khadijah who is years older than him. Because of the
things revealed to him by Allah (SWT) through angel Gabriel, he decided to follow the
command
and preach the teachings of Allah (SWT) thus establishing the Islam. For
Muslims, Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah (SWT).

8. Who is Allah?

Allah is an Arabic term for God. He is the one and only God followed and worshipped by
the Muslims. He is believed to be the Supreme Being who created the Universe
and everything that we see in this world.

9. What is the Quran?

Qur'an is regarded as the sacred scripture of Islam. Muslim believed that these are the
word of Allah (SWT). It is written in Arabic and it is never been translated. It is as it is
when first communicated by Prophet Muhammad to the people. It contains 114 chapters
(Surah) of unequal length and 6200 verses. This book contains the revelations
and teachings of Allah (SWT) which every Muslim follows and bring with them wherever
they are.

10. Where is Mecca and why is it important?

Mecca is located in Saudi Arabia. It is the holiest place in the religion of Islam because it
is where the Prophet Muhammad was born and the word of Allah (SWT) was revealed.
It's the destination of Muslim pilgrims from all over the world during the annual
pilgrimage known as Hajj. It is so holy to them that no non-Muslims people are allowed
to enter to the place.

11. What do Christianity, Judaism and Islam have in common?

Christianity, Judaism and Islam have different practices in common. They believe in one
God who rules and created the universe. All of these have relationship with Abraham.
These religions believed that God made a covenant with Abraham that whoever believes
and worshipped the Lord will in turn gain a favor because God will protect these people
from generations to generations. They also believe that God told Abraham in his dream
that he should sacrifice his another son. Other than that, they all beleived in the power of
prayer. This is the most common to the three religion in which every followers do in their
lives. The act of kindness and charity is also observed in all three.

12. What is jihad?

In most cases, hijad is often associated to wars when in fact, this term refers to
the struggle or striving in Islamic context. It is any effort to make personal and
social life directed and in line with Allah's will and glory. It is about the struggle of a
Muslim to strenthen his faith, struggle to create a peaceful Muslim society and a
struggle to defend Islam with force if necessary.

13. What is the difference between Shiite and Sunni Muslims?

When Prophet Muhammad died, Islam was divided into two main groups namely Sunni
and Shia. There is an argument to as to who should succeed Muhammad. The first
group, Sunni Muslims believed that the true successor of Muhammad was his friend and
father- in-law Abu Bakr. In contrast, Shia Muslims believed that it was the prophet's
cousin and son-in-law Ali bin Talib who was appointed as the true successor.The Sunnis
believe that they follow the more Orthodox path laid out by Muhammad’s teachings.
