Islam Religion
What is Islam?
It's an Abrahamic monotheistic religion
teaching that Muhammad is the final and
ultimate messenger of God. It is the world's
second-largest religion with 1.8 billion
followers or 24.1% of the world's population
Who's the Founder?
Muhammad, in full Abū al-Qāsim Muḥammad
ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib ibn Hāshim,
is the founder of Islam and the proclaimer of the
Qurʾān. Muhammad is traditionally said to have
been born in 570 in Mecca and to have died in
632 in Medina, where he had been forced to
emigrate to with his adherents in 622.
The Followers of Islam
Muslims are people who follow or practice Islam.
Muslims consider the Quran, their holy book, to
be the verbatim word of God as revealed to the
Islamic prophet and messenger Muhammad. The
majority of Muslims also follow the teachings and
practices of Muhammad (sunnah) as recorded in
traditional accounts (hadith). The derivation of
"Muslim" is from an Arabic word meaning
"submitter" (to God).
Their Holy Text
The Quran (sometimes spelled Qur’an or Koran)
is considered the most important holy book
among Muslims. It contains some basic
information that is found in the Hebrew Bible as
well as revelations that were given to
Muhammad.
The text is considered the sacred word of God
and supersedes any previous writings. The book
is written with Allah as the first person, speaking
through Gabriel to Muhammad. It contains 114
chapters, which are called surahs.
The Five Pillars of Islam
Muslims believe true submission to Allah requires specific acts of worship and
obedience. The most important acts are called The Five Pillars of Islam.

Shahada: to declare one’s faith in God and belief in Muhammad

Salat: to pray five times a day (at dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and evening)
Zakat: to give to those in need
Sawm: to fast during Ramadan
Hajj: to make a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once during a person’s lifetime if the
person is able
The Shariah Law
Sharia, Islamic law, or redundantly Sharia law,
is a religious law forming part of the Islamic
tradition. It is derived from the religious precepts
of Islam, particularly the Quran and the hadith.
In Arabic, the term sharīʿah refers to God's
immutable divine law and is contrasted with
fiqh, which refers to its human scholarly
interpretations.
