The ability to influence and direct the behavior of other

Elements people and guide the course and outcomes of events

AUTHORITY
An individual or group has the right to use power by making
decisions, giving orders, and demanding obedience

LEGITIMACY
Citizen's belief that their leaders have the right to exercise
power and authority

SOVERIGNTY
The highest exercise of political power. Supreme and ultimate
authority that cannot be overruled by a higher power
What could be the purpose or use of
political power?

PURPOSE OF POLITICAL POWER

All political power is inherent in the people, and


governments derive their just powers from the
consent of the governed, and are established to
protect and maintain individual rights.

It enables people or groups, to control the policies


functions and culture of society.

It solely depends on the people who has such


power to use this for oneself or for all people.
IT COULD BE BOTH
Is it always
positive or Throughout history it has been used by people
with various intentions, to over throw a corrupt
negative? government like the French Revolution, or
gaining independence like the Philippines from
their Spanish Colonizers. Political Power can be
both used for positive and negative purposes, it
can be used to improve a country. But it can also
be used for negative purposes like corruption
and power exploitation.
How can IT HAS CONSEQUENCES
Political Power A wise man once said, "With great power comes

Affect People? great responsibility". The person either drowns


from it or rise the tide and manage to stay afloat.
The results will make the person in power a wise
and venerable or a narcissistic dictator.

Political Power can affect people positively or


negatively. If the political power is used for
righteousness, then it can persuade the people to
follow the leader and have faith for him. It can make
the people think that the leader is worthy of leading
them. But if it was used for the benefit of oneself,
then it can break the people's trust and make them
think that the leader is unworthy of being a leader.
