“The Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) looks forward to welcoming students back
to school on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at the normal scheduled start time. Our district continues
to follow a multi-layered approach regarding COVID-19 safety (see below). The safety
and health of our students and staff members is our No. 1 priority.”
• Partnered with Immunize El Paso and
established vaccination clinics at our campuses
to promote and administer vaccinations to our
communities free of charge. 2022 dates will be
posted on our website soon.
• Encouraging face coverings while indoors
• Incorporated physical distance to the greatest
extent possible
• Promote frequent handwashing & offer hand
sanitizer across every campus
• Encourage cough etiquette
• Minimize the time our students and faculty spend
in groups, whenever possible
• Complete close contact tracing and employ
quarantine and isolation practices on positive
cases
• Continue to employ screening practices and
highly encourage our employees to vaccinate
• Promote, publish, and post information physically
and online regarding recommendations,
practices, and strategies, vetted by the CDC,
local health authorities, and other government
agencies, regarding the prevention of and
interruption of disease transmission
• YISD facilities exceed all American Society of
Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning
(ASHRAE) standards as well as all Indoor Air
Quality (IAQ) standards
• Facilities provide the maximum amount of
ventilation our equipment is designed for to
provide effective airflow patterns
• Maintain buildings under positive pressure to
improve indoor air quality by forcing
contaminants and particulates out of the air
space
• Utilize air filters with the highest (MERV) rating
our equipment is designed for
• Our buildings have air economizers wherever
possible to increase the amount of fresh airflow
• Incorporated automated logic controls with
sensors to manage the carbon dioxide levels
expelled by human exhaling, directly impacting
the amount of exhaust and fresh air intake in real-
time.
• Perform regularly scheduled preventive
maintenance (PM) on all our HVAC equipment
• Implemented consistent cleaning and disinfecting
practices districtwide that includes the use of
antimicrobial and disinfecting solution via the use
of highly efficient fogging equipment.
