Snow-SF2/SF4
9 LEADING PARTICULARS

9.1 General description 9.1.2 Build-up

Snow-SF are stationary, single-stage, oilless compressors. They Snow-SF compressors have following main components (Fig.
are air-cooled. The power from the drive motor is transmitted 9.3):
to the compressor element through two belts. - compressor element (3)
- air filter (2)
- drive motor (6)
9.1.1 Compressor element (Fig. 9.1) - air cooler (10) and cooling fan (4)

The compressor element consists of a fixed scroll-shaped Safety valve (9) protects the compressor against overpressure.
housing and a scroll-shaped rotor. Air enters the compressor The main components are housed in a bodywork which serves
element through inlet opening (1). Once the air is drawn in, as silencing hood. The hood is mounted on a frame (12-Fig.
the orbiting scroll (4) seals the inlet opening and forces the air 9.4).
into a continuously decreasing space. As scroll (4) keeps
orbiting, this process of compression is constantly repeated,
resulting in discharging of oil-free compressed air through outlet 9.2 Air flow (Fig. 9.3)
opening (3).
Air is drawn through air filter (2) into compressor element (3)
and is compressed. Compressed air is discharged through air
cooler (10).

9.3 Cooling and condensate drain systems

(Fig. 9.3)

The compressor element (3) is cooled by fan (4). The fan is

mounted on the drive shaft of the compressor element. The
cooling air is blown over the compressor element and air cooler
(10) via duct (5). A ball valve is installed to drain the cooler
manually.
