As we know that Arpita is creating and out of the box thinking company which can create gifts of their

own choice, so it requires employees with certain qualities and traits. Arpita herself is an extrovert
person so she would always want their employees to be good at expressing what they are thinking.

What is personality?
The collection of behaviors with which an individual reacts and interacts with others and these behaviors can
be quantified into traits displayed by a person –such as shy, aggressive, clumsy, loyal, ambitious, untidy, and
timid and as per these traits Arpita needed her employees to have personality characteristics.

b)How she could motivate her employees to give their 100% to the job?
The force within an individual which drives a person to fulfill a need is called motivation and over here Arpita would want
always want their employees to stay motivated as they are always engaged to do something new every time.

Motivation itself is a process that starts from the following

The Motivation Process

Need – The desire to achieve something
Disturbance – The way that needs is there in our mind
Behavior- our behaviors towards that need
Need to be fulfilled- How much our desire has been fulfilled
Feel at peace (Homeostasis)- The condition of being satisfied after achieving what we wanted to

With the kind of work Arpita company does she should follow the Job Characteristic Model

Job Characteristic Model (JCM)

Experienced meaningfulness of the work.

Arpita company is doing meaningful work as everybody is following their passion to create something new every time
which would automatically motivate the employees.

Experienced responsibility for the outcomes of work.

Arpita should give proper credit and recognition for the gifts employees have created which will motivate them to be loyal
to the company and a sense of feelings that company care these assort of gesture do motivate the employees

Knowledge of the actual results of the work activity

Arpita should create a platform for its employees where customers can give them feedback about how well their work is
and what are also the areas of improvement.

Arpita can also motivate her employees by following Locke’s Goal-Setting Theory

Locke proposed that if individuals are given goals that are specific and difficult, they will perform better. For
the goals to be motivating, they need to have
Clarity - In this case, they all are following their passion so it will be easy for Arpita to motivate them as they
have complete clarity of their work.
Challenge - There is a challenge as they have to create new things to meet clients' expectations and by bringing
new innovative projects Arpita can keep them motivated.
Commitment - Arpita can reward them for their work by proving them with a good salary so they stay
committed to their work and then commitment motivates people to do better.
Feedback - Arpita should create a platform in her business model so that her clients can provide feedback about
the product they are selling so that employees will get to know how well their creativity has been received by
their clients and these things motivate them to do better.
Task complexity- It is a collection of properties inherited by a task. sometimes employees when given a task
under specific conditions like a priority, due date, duration, urgency then that also motivate the team member to
do better. Arpita should provide work to their employees with certain deadlines as to also check their capability
and their efficiency to work.

2.) Additionally, what influenced her decision to open such an organization, and was it a
programmed or a non-programmed decision?
Arpita loves to make creative gifts to the friend and family, her original idea is to create something new in an
innovative way, which influenced her.
CREATIVITY here is the influencer to make her decision to start the new company called “Give yourself a
gift”.Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas to create something new or innovatively present
something and this is what exactly Arpitas company was aiming to do
Creativity also has a positive influence on decision-making and creative people think out of the box exactly
what Arpita did as she was into marketing.
Give yourself a gift is completely a non-programmed decision making as they are new and complex
decisions that require creative solutions and this is out of the box kind thinking where people follow their heart
and passion as she was into marketing and completely changed to creating a gift company,
Company Name: LMC Consulting Company
Employee Name: Manit
What kind of power does Manit’s Boss have?

Manit’s Boss has legitimate position power and knowledge power. From the case study, it is clear that
Manit’s Boss has been enjoying the support of the Management. He used his position power as he was not
impressed since Manit found difficulty in doing the task allotted to him.

Is there any evidence of Office politics? How ?

Yes, there is evidence of Office politics. When Manit was in need of help and was in extreme stress, he tried to
get some support, suggestion from his colleagues. But they don’t want to help hm. His colleagues thought that
Manit was working extra hard to earn more bonus points and to gain attention from his Boss. Also they felt this
may affect their own growth. So, they all started to avoid him and made him feel isolated from all discussions.
Impression management is the kind of politics that has come into play in this scenario as Manit’s first
impression got distorted.

What kind of conflict do you think is happening between Manit and his boss and why?

The conflict here is interpersonal conflict and process conflict. This is because Manit’s boss definitely of the old
school who expected Manit to handle his task independently and thought it was not his job to train or help his
subordinates in any situation. Words from “Bill Kristol” - “First impressions matter. Most people don't change
their political views radically from the ones they first hold”. •

Do you think Manit is a team player? Why or why not?

I think that Manit was a team player because he had sought help from his teammates and his Boss to help him
with his tasks. It was his team which clearly decided to isolate him just because the boss did not share a good
rapport with Manit.
