AIRCRAFT GENERAL

INTRODUCTION
The Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern, fly-by-wire regional jet in the
75- to 95-seat category. The Superjet 100 is produced by Russian
aerospace firm Sukhoi’s civil division, of which Finmeccanica of Italy
owns 51%. The jet is being developed in collaboration with
Finmeccanica subsidiary Alenia Aeronautica.

The aircraft will be equipped with two PowerJet SaM 146 turbofan
engines (Saturn/SNECMA ccoperation)

The Superjet 100 airliner family was developed based on the

principle of maximum standardization of frame assemblies and
systems, e.g.: wings, structure, engines, crew cabin, basic aircraft
systems and component parts. The standardization of the design
makes it possible to improve the economic performance of the
aircraft family operation with expenditures kept at a rational level.

The aerodynamics and design of the aircraft of the family are based
on proven advanced technology to minimize technical risks at the
stage of design, testing and operation. Initially a basic and a Long
Range (LR) version designed for use on a network of various length
routes will be offered to make it possible for airlines to improve the
economic performance of their operations through a more balanced
fleet composition based on the route structure and passenger flows.

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE - TIME LIMITS / MAINTENANCE

CHECKS

Chapter 05 contains the SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CHECKS

This section includes all the zonal inspections that you must do on
the aircraft as defined by the requirements of the maintenance
schedule.

Note: Inspection Task numbering is defined below.

Note: Additional Scheduled Maintenance Checks are found in the

Maintenance Planning Manual (MPD)

General task guidelines:

► If you discover damage, corrosion or leakage, rectify it before the

next flight.
► On removal or opening of any cowl, door, access panel or hatch

for access to the zone, inspect them. This requirement is not

mentioned in each task, but is a mandatory maintenance
procedure.
► After the aircraft lands, a general visual inspection should be

performed in accordance with the recommended walk-around

route shown below.

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE - JACKING

Jacking procedures are detailed for Aircraft Main Jacking and jacking
for wheel (or brake) replacement.

AIRCRAFT MAIN JACKING

Aircraft jacking is accomplished using three jacks – one at the nose
of the airplane, and one on each wing.

The jacks are installed after the temporary installation of jacking

adapters at the three jacking points

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE - LEVELING & WEIGHING

LEVELING
Precise leveling is done during aircraft production and is only
necessary thereafter after major structural repairs.

WEIGHING
NOTE: To get accurate results, the aircraft must be on a level area in
a hangar with:
► the hangar doors and windows closed.

► the hangar heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems

stopped (Wind and air flows prevent accurate results).

NOTE: This procedure may be done with load cells on each jack or
with platform scales under each jack.

NOTE: The Weight and Balance Manual is the reference to weigh

the aircraft and calculate the position of the center of gravity.

► Absence of residual distortion of airframe units standard mount lifting

► Correct installation of airframe units after replacement ► Strain gage platform scales

► Mechanical platform scales

Leveling of the aircraft must be performed in a closed hangar or, as

an exception, on an open concrete site with absolutely no wind. The list of weighing fixtures, tools, test and support equipment is

EQUIPMENT

Second Category:
This category of tools & test equipment includes diagnostic,
monitoring and troubleshooting equipment which are standard on the
RRJ. Some examples are:

► CMS (Centralized Maintenance System) – the CMS allows

maintenance to perform all system ground and BITE checks. It
also monitors all ground and in-flight warnings and faults.
Maintenance can display and print these reports to start the
troubleshooting process.

► ACMS (Aircraft Condition Monitoring System) – the ACMS

continuously monitors digital information sent to and from all of the
system computers and control boxes. This data may be retrieved
by maintenance for trend monitoring, fault isolation, or
troubleshooting. Pre-formatted reports and individual parameter
monitoring are available.

The main interface for ground maintenance personnel is the MAT

(Maintenance Access Terminal). The MAT is an interactive display
used to access the CMS to retrieve fault data, and to perform BITE
tests and troubleshooting.

CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM

INTEGRATED MODULAR AVIONICS (IMA) PLATFORM IMA HOSTED PROGRAMS

The main part of the Aircrraft Data Network (ADN) is the Central The IMA provides the hosted applications with hardware resources to
Computer System, also known as the Integrated Modular Avionics receive and send data with the A/C systems and the Avionics Systems.
(IMA) platform. The connections are shared on all the platform hardware resources.

PURPOSE Hosted Aplications include:

The idea ofthe IMA installation is to replace individual LRUs with a AFA - Auto Flight Application
generic module containing acquisition and command capabilities, on DCA - Data Concentration Application
which independent applications can be hosted. In fact, several FWA – Flight Warning Application
applications may be hosted on one module. SWA – Stall Warning Application
CMA – Centralized Maintenance Application
By reducing the number of independent LRUs, the IMA reduces
weight, as well as electrical and ventilation consumption..

The IMA platform includes:

► 4 core processing input-output modules (CPIOM) that control

automatic on-board flight control system (AOFCS) and engine

interface units. These modules represent a separate removable
unit, installed separately from other components;
► 2 core processing modules (CPM) and 4 input-output modules

(IOM) that control the flight warning system, centralized

maintenance system, stall warning system and some engine
interface unit applications. These modules are installed on a
single common frame (Core Avionics Cabinet – CAC) but they can
be removed and replaced independently.
► 4 switch modules (SWM) that link computer modules, input-output

modules and computing modules.
