ACTIVITY
PRESENTATION SKILLS
Task 1:

Step A: Look online for speeches that are widely popular. The most renowned TED Talks of all
time is a great place to start. Pick a talk on YouTube that you’re interested in and watch it
through a critical lens.

Step B: Now analyze the talk and list down the components that make their speech
extraordinary. Observe what kind of gestures, facial expressions, body language, tone, and
narrative structure the speaker uses, what makes their delivery effective, how their visuals
enhance their talk and what other elements are used by the speaker to make the speech
interesting.

Step B: Simon Sinek presents a simple but powerful model for how leaders inspire action,
starting with a golden circle and the question "Why?" His examples include Apple, Martin
Luther King, and the Wright brothers -- and as a counterpoint TiVo, which (until a recent
court victory that tripled its stock price) appeared to be struggling. The speaker seems to
possess natural ability to convey ideas in a very organize way. His body language, tone and
structure are very compelling and visually stunning. His charisma is extraordinary. He plays
with words very well and builds up a lovely ambience.
Moral:
I think it is very important to keep the "why" in our minds. Why we get out of bed every
morning is what inspire us to do what we do, and others to care about that too.

PREFIXES AND SUFFIXES

Task 1:

Identify five prefixes from the following paragraph and write their meanings on a separate
sheet of paper.
At first, I thought one of my fuzzy, orange socks disappeared in the dryer, but I could not find it
in there. Because it was my favorite pair, nothing was going to prevent me from finding that
sock. I looked all around my bedroom, under the bed, on top of the bed, and in my closet, but I
still could not find it. I did not know that I would discover the answer just as I gave up my
search. As I sat down on the couch in the family room, my Dad was reclining on his chair. I
laughed when I saw that one of his feet was orange and the other blue! I forgot that he was color-
blind. Next time he does laundry I will have to supervise him while he folds the socks so that he
does not accidentally take one of mine!

Answers

One of my life goals is to lead my life in a successful and prosper manner as per the teachings of
my religion. I want to implement all the teachings of my religion in my practical life. I prefer to
lead a life where I can be a helping hand for those who are in need as much as I can. I am a
caring person and I try my level to do whatever I can to ease the difficulties of others. I want to
deactivate all the elements from my personality that can lead me to earn the angriness of the
Almighty.
