ARE TEST SCORES GOOD INDICATION OF STUDENT’S PERFORMANCE?

Test scores are just numbers, but still, it is the evidence of what we learn and what we
understand in the certain subject. I bet some of the students here were pushing through their
limits just to pass an exam but still got failed scores and some were studying really hard yet
getting what they really deserved. On my own view point, examinations are measures on how
well students understand different topics in a specific period of time. Because, we cannot study
everything in just one night sit. Great examples here are those who topped board exams, if you’ll
know their history, you will know that they were really good students way back then, that most
of them were really academic achievers. For what you sow, you’re going to harvest it later.
Knowledge is not a gift, that you already had it when you were born, it requires a long long
process just to acquire it.
Test scores are good indicators of a student’s performance when it is consistent. When a student
is getting high scores consecutively every term then, he or she is really a good student. Aside
from test scores, we can see student’s capabilities by recitations or room class activities for it is
where a student can create his or her own ideas and there he or she can disseminate the
informations he or she had in his / her mind. A good student knows well in class. They are the
ones who topped the class, and I bet they’re also the one who always got good scores most of
the time.
For me, some students might just suffering or distracted by many factors when it comes to
studying. When a student fails a test or an assessment it might be cause by factors. Maybe the
student is not in the mood or is being mental blocked, because even the smartest person can
eventually reach this point in his/her life. Or he is too lazy to study. Or might be the student was
distracted by gadgets. There might have factors present that can distract any student, but for me,
a student with a goal and a student who is persevered will never be distracted by any of them.
Rather, he/she will do his/her best every time. That’s why I’m pointing out here that test scores
are measures of students’ performance in school if it is consistent for it is where you can truly
tell the students’ standings in his or her academics.
As a typical student, I also failed exams. But I know how to get better scores next time. It was
indeed a challenge for me and also I serve every failure as a lesson. And I think that’s how we
enjoy studying for an average student like me. We have less pressure but we know how can we
do well next time. I do not blame my teacher or my environment when I failed, because it is
always mind over matter and also I have learned that it is the indication of how systematically
adjustable we are to the system. Every disappointing event that is happening to me is because of
my own acts and I am accountable of it.
Good students get good scores because they have goals and they set their mind to achieve
something, maybe to make their parents’ proud or maybe just to feed their ego or maybe that’s
how they really are…GOAL DIGGERS!
Setting goals is the most important thing we can do in life. Without goals, we are going to have
no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school and trouble finding a career
that will provide for us. Without these things, achieving goals is going to be one of the toughest
tasks in the years to come. Goal diggers are the academic achievers. They are the inspiration of
their friends, family and other students. Their achievements are the result of their hard works
and of their crafts. They are the one whom not disturbed or defeated by any life problems. They
are the one whom I should be. A student cannot do this with perseverance and life direction.
We have to keep in mind that tests are made to keep track of our knowledge. And tests results
indicates our capability. So tests are very important for us to know how we can interact with
certain things, test scores are perhaps more significant indicators because they are more
representative of real life. The student’s performance can be seen on tests. So if there is a test
make sure that you are ready for you to pass the tests and have a good result. As others say,
happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes
after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best. There’s a rainbow always every
after a storm.That’s why Good grades and good scores are the indicators of student’s good
performance.
