TOPICS PRESENTATION
 Topic 1 : Talk about some common health problems and common treatments for them.
- Depending on the geographical area, each place will often encounter unique health problems.
But most of us will encounter two common health problems are cold and stomach.
- Cold problems:
 Symptoms : is an increase of body temperature, our body will reach 37 to 38 degrees and
some additional symptoms such as headache, coughing, sneezing and weak.
 Measures : you should try to using antipyretics, painkiller or cough medicine:
+ Take the medicine regularly after eating
+ Eat soft liquid foods, and should not take a bath while sick.
- Stomach problems:
 Symptoms: Depending on each location you have pain, there will be different reasons, it
will cause indigestion and vomiting.
 Measure: Let's try antacid it may be help you better.
- There are two common health problems and common treatments for them.
- Health is everything, without health we will lose everything. Let's take the time to take care of
your health.

 Topic 2 : Talk about some changes in your life and their impact on you.
- There are 2 changes that directly impact on me: when my grandfather passed away and when I
from high school student to college student.
- My grandparents passed away:
 When I was 8 years old my father picked me up and told me that my grandfather had
passed away.
 By the time I got home, I had seen relative worn white clothes with weeper on their head
 That’s was a gloomy seen.
 It was a big shock because my grandfather was the person who closest to me at that time.
  I realized when I still have a lot of time to take care of and pay attention to my families.
- From high school student to college student.
 I was overwhelmed by the lecture hall and the atmosphere of the university.
 As people say it's like a miniature society and it's a bit complicated.
 There are two things that influenced me the most:
+ The way I study : actively record information and most importantly- self-study.
+ Study environment: The university learning environment is dynamic and open. We
have more opportunities to easily reveal our strengths.
 The study environment at university will train us a lot of skills that are beneficial for future
work and life such as presentations, teamwork so on.
 But sometimes there will be negative effects, turn it into a positive and draw lessons for
yourself later.

 Topic 3: Describe a festival or celebration in your hometown.

- If you ask me about a famous festival in Vietnam, I will definitely talk about Tet Holiday,
which is also known as Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam.
- Tet is the time when the Lunar calendar year begins which usually fall between mid January to
mid February.
- People start the arrangement to celebrate this festival about one month prior to Tet: cooking
traditional foods, cleaning their house and buying new furniture, etc.
- What the people do during this festival and explain why this festival is important to you:
 On Tet holiday, we will have family unions to catch up with each other.
 Enjoy this festival by preparing traditional food such as Vietnamese square cake, dried
candied fruit, braised pork and eggs, etc..
 For children, they can receive lucky money from adults as a way to give them wishes for
the new year.
- Since we have Tet, everyone will have at least one or two days to have family gatherings and
tighten the bonds with other members.

 Topic 4: Talk about a (natural) disaster you know or hear of.

- Natural disasters happen all over the world, and they can be utterly devastating for people’s
lives and the environments we live in.
- There was a “historical flood” that happened in central and northern regions of Vietnam in
1986.
- On July, 1986: Extremely large floods caused landslides, overflows, and ruptures of many
local dikes and dikes in the provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Tay, Hanoi,etc...
 Rain and flood caused much damage to mountainous and midland provinces such as: Ha
Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, ect.
 Tens of thousands of hectares of rice and crops were flooded and lost.
 Many sections of the national highway were flooded, landslides and rocks drifted.
 Floods killed many people; collapsed, drifted many houses.
- To stop this, government are finding new modern solutions and giving precautions with
warnings as soon as possible.

 Topic 5: Talk about ways to reduce global warming.

- Global warming  caused by too many ‘greenhouse gases’ in our atmosphere, gases that trap
heat and warm our planet.
- Global warming is expected to have: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more
intense heat waves.
- 3 ways to reduce global warming:
 Plant trees:
+ The most cost-effective way to prevent global warming
+ Trees absorb CO2, can help reduce the amount of carbon in atmosphere
 Create more sustainable transportation habits:
+ Using public transport as much as possible
+ Choose a climate-friendly options with environment
 Lower your heating bills:
+ Don’t use too much electronic machine, set the air conditioner about 24 – 26 degree to
save the energy, don’t open the fridge too much at a day
+ Open your windows and enjoy the wind of nature
- Global warming isn’t easy to break, but each time you take a step to prevent global warming,
you’re usually giving up something, whether it’s time, money, or convenience. That’s why you
should make sure the sacrifice you’re making actually has a significant impact.

 Topic 6: Talk about traditional Vietnamese’s wedding.

- Wedding is a marriage ceremony, especially considered as including the associated
celebrations. In Vietnam, the wedding is one of the most important traditions of Vietnamese
which is also considered the happiest event of one’s life.
- Traditional Vietnamese’s wedding has 3 main steps:
 Proposal Ceremony:
+ The meeting of the 2 families where the groom’s fam will visit the bride’s fam to ask
permission for and official relationship
+ The gifts that the groom’s fam brings to the bride’s are expected to be the betel and the
areca
+ Considering to be a good start for a successful marriage
 Engagement Party:
+ Is an official announcement of the wedding which is takes place a few months before
the wedding
+ The date for it is often chosen carefully by both families based on couple’s birthday
according to Lunar calendar
+ The gifts usually include betel and areca, a pairs of husband-wife cake, wine, tea,
engagement rings and roasted pig are covered by red cloth
+ Having 5,7 or 9 males and females who haven’t got married to bring the trays of gifts
to bride’s house
+ Couples will wear ao dai when they pray in front of the fiancée’s altar and give the
rings
 Wedding reception:
+ Chosen carefully and usually decided by a Buddhist monk or a fortune teller
+ Take place at groom’s house or restaurant, the couple will stand by the door,
welcoming the guest and take a picture
+ Next, they walk onto the stage, the ceremony will start with the announcement with
many cheers from guest.
+ After that, the couple will go from a table to table in order to thank their guest for
attendance. During the reception, Vietnamese guest often enjoy singing and dance on
stage
- Money is always a welcome gift for the wedding in Vietnam as it helps the couple to offset the
cost of the wedding.

 Topic 7: Talk about holiday around the world.

- The old year has passed and the new year comes is the best moment that every people around
the world feels happy
 - The occasion which people celebrate with joyful and hopeful, a chance to reunite with their
families  Tet holiday.
- Tet is the biggest traditional festival so the way they celebrate Tet is also very special:
 Clean the house, buy new things to decorate the house, repainting the house: the house
look refreshed and beautiful, removing old things to remove bad luck and welcome New
Year’s fortunes, the old and broken things will throw away
 In Northern, people usually buy peach blossom and apricot blossom in the South
 Tet is the time to enjoy traditional food especially banh chung, banh day, thit kho, jam...
are a dish that indispensable in Tet meals
 Wear new and beautiful clothes on New Year's Day and often choose red color to bring
good luck
 Giving lucky money is a gift from one person to another to wish them happy
 Visit pagoda to wish for luck and happiness in the new year
- Tet Holiday is the best occassion for family members to return home and get together.
However, for me, Tet is still the most beautiful holiday in Vietnam. Whenever this holiday
comes, remind me how diverse our cultures is.

 Topic 8: Talk about reading habit.

- Reading habit is a good habit that everyone needs to have to improve theirself
- Reading is also the source of inspiration make your life more enjoyable
- Benefits of reading habit:
 Understand clearly the content:
+ Easy to understand what the author convey to reader
+ Find out the message behind the story that can be applied to life
 Book is the rich source of knowledge and information:
+ Gain amazing information in cultures, traditions, health,... and several other subjects
and aspects of life
+ Open up the mind
 Reading habit can help to improve communication skill:
+ Give more vocabulary to refresh the conversation
+ Boost your confidence and enhance your communication skills
 Reading is also a way to relax and reduce stress:
+ Absorb the positive energy and can make you more intelligent
+ Improve a person’s creative ability
- Reading is a habit that everyone should have because of its many benefits, so make reading a
daily habit in your life.

 Topic 9 :Talk about the pros and cons of a controversial issue.

- Covid 19 affect all of people around the world in generally, Viet Nam in particular.
- In Viet Nam, Covid 19 has raised many controversial issues and specialy that is pros and cons
of should or shouldn’t keep social distancing.
- During the time of social distancing, there were many mixed opinions:
 Group 1 : Stayed home enough.
+ Adv: They need their work and return to normal life.
+ Dav: They don’t have enough money and they don’t have enough food and equipment.
 Group 2 : Put safety in the first.
+ Adv: Protect their health and reduce the number of community inffection of covid 19.
+ Dav: Effect on economic and tourism. Also effect on the quality of education.
- Covid 19 is really dangerous and social distancing is essential. Please protect yourself first and
share to help others, that will help us overcome the covid-19 pandemic.

 Topic 10: Present an invention or a discovery with its impact in history.

- The internet is the important thing and had a strong influence on history.
- Invented by: Mr. Paul Baran, with 2 others are Donald Davies and Leonard Kleinrock.
- Just need a phone or a computer connected to the Internet:
 We can access and participate in many websites such as: Facebook, Zalo, Youtube ,
Twitter…
 A tool for people all over the world to exchange and share with each other
 Can have more friends and learn many good things from them
 Make life more new and open - mind because people can get more knowledge from the
internet, can develop themselves
 Become a place where people can sell things on online shopping platforms such as
shopee, lazada,...
 Study online
- Can be seen that the internet has a great influence on people, internet is an invention that has a
great influence on history. But you have to know how to use it properly.
