B. HORIZONTAL SOIL BRANCH

Horizontal Soil Branch Sizing

FLOOR LEVEL TOTAL DFU PIPE SIZE VENT STACK SIZE Note: As per NPCP
GROUND FLOOR 9 75 mm Ø 75 mm Ø
2ND FLOOR 69 100 mm Ø
3RD FLOOR 91 100 mm Ø 1 No water closet shall discharge in a drain
100 mm Ø
4TH FLOOR 91 100 mm Ø less than 75 mm. or 3" pipe ø
PENTHOUSE 43 100 mm Ø
2 No more than 2 water closets chall
discharge into any 75 mm. horizontal soil
Note: For branch vent, and lavatories, use 75 mm ø pipe. branch, house drain or house sewer
Use a minimum size of 75 mm ø P-Trap for floor Drains
Floor Drain should not be installed more than 200 mm below the floor line 3 Note that the recommended pipe size are
only the MINIMUM recommendations of
the National Plumbing Code of the Phil.
Recommended Min. Horizantal Soil Branch ø
Ground Level : 75 mm. ø or 3" ø For Verification:
2nd Floor Level : 100 mm. ø or 3" ø 1 Refer to Table 5-2, Fajardo Jr.
3rd Floor Level : 100 mm. ø or 4" ø Plumbing Design and Estimate
4th Floor Level : 100 mm. ø or 4" ø
PENTHOUSE : 100 mm. ø or 4" ø 2 Revised NPCP, under Table 7.5

C. HOUSE DRAIN

Under Table 7-5 (Revised National Plumbing Code of the Philippines), for a 303 FU, it could be served by a 125 mm Ø pipe
Thus, the recommended size of the House Drain for the said proposal is 125 mm Ø pipe

Note:
It is recommended under any circumstance that a minimum of 2% slope should be maintained

D. CLEAN OUT
Note: Each horizontal drainage pipe shall be provided with a cleanout at its upper terminal
Each cleanout shall be installed so it opens in the direction of the flow to allow cleaning of the soil or wast
line or at right angles thereto

Refer to Table 7-4

- For pipe size of 75 mm. ø, use a 64 mm. ø-8 thread/25.4 mm. cleanout
- For pipe size of 100 mm. ø and larger, use a 89 mm. ø-8 thread/25.4 mm. cleanout

D. SEPTIC VAULT

Note: Under Appendix B of the National Plumbing Code of the Philippines

1 Septic tank/vaults shall have a minimum of 2 compartment. The inlet compartment of any septic tank shall
be not less than two thirds (2 1/3) of the total capacity of the tank, nor less than 2 cu. m. liquid capacity,
and shall at least .90 m. in width and 1.5 m. in lentgh.

2 The liquid depth shall not be less than .60 m. or more than 1.80 m.

3 The second compartment of the septic tank shall have a minimum capacity of 1 cu. m. and a maximum
capacity of 1/3 of the total capacity of the tank

4 Access to each septic tank shall be provided by at least two (2) manholes 508 mm. minimum dimension or
by an equivalent removable slab.

5 Liquid Capacity of all septic tank shall conform to Tables B-2 and B-3 of the Natl. Plumbing Code of the Phil.
As determined by the number of bedrooms or apartment units in dwelling occupancies and the estimated
waste/sewage flow rate or the number of plumbing fixture units determined from Table 7-2, whichever is
greater.

Parameters used: Qs= 50gal./day x 55 persons

Assumed Max No.: of Occupants: 55 persons Qs=2750 gal/day
Water Demand per Person: 50 gal./ per day
Sewage Flow: V=1125 + 0.75 Qs Computation for 3 Chamber Septic Tank

Assumed vaue But; D is 1.8m and W is 1.5 M, thus

Depth = 1.5 m
Width = 1.8 m 12 cu. M = L(1.8)(1.5)
L = 12/2.7
V = 1125 + 0.75 (2570) L = 4.44 M
V = 3187.5 gal.
V = 3187.5 gal. / 12 cu. M.
V=LxWxD

Second Chamber

V = 0.25 x Qs V= 0.25 x 3187.5 V= 796.88 gal. or 3 cu. M.

D = 1.5m W = 1.8 m Thus 3 = L (1.8)(1.5)

L = 3/2.7
L = 1.1 m say 1.2m
Adapt Multi Chamber

1st chamber is 4.5 m(L) x 1.8 m(W) x 1.5 m(D)

2nd chamber is 1.2 m(L) x 1.8 m(W) x 1.5 m(D)
3rd chamber is 1.2 m(L) x 1.8 m(W) x 1.5 m(D)

E. Floor Drains

Note:
1 As stated by the by the Natl. Plumbing Code of the Phil. that the minimum trap size requirement for a floor
is 50 mm. ø or 2" ø, for maintenance purposes a min. of 75 mm. ø or 3" ø is recommended
As stated by the by the Natl. Plumbing Code of the Phil. that the minimum trap size requirement for a floor
is 50 mm. ø or 2" ø, for maintenance purposes a min. of 75 mm. ø or 3" ø is recommended
2 Floor drain should be installed not more than 200 mm. below the floor line
3 Recommended P-trap should be Deep Seal Type
Therefore,
- use 75 mm ø or 3" ø trap and trap arm size of floor drains
