Our country is known to be highly prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic
eruptions, and storms because of its geographic location. Because of this we expect that these disasters
might cause our country damages in property and infrastructure, social environmental disruptions, and
fatalities. Also, schools are not excluded with these natural disasters much more with the damages such
as disruption of classes and damages in property and infrastructure so to the school where damages of
disasters are mostly evident and where effects to the children’s education are strongly felt need to take
actions to mitigate the effects of disasters. As Petra Nemcova says, “We cannot stop natural disasters,
but we can arm ourselves with knowledge: so many lives wouldn't have to be lost if there was enough
disaster preparedness”. Added to it, the pandemic brought about by Covid-19 was a great challenge that
the school, parents, and learners are facing until now.

In line with it, our school crafted the annual School DRRM-CCA Plan and Contingency Plan in accordance
with the risks associated to the natural and human-induced hazards confronting our school to ensure
the safety of the school, learners, and personnel before, during and after disaster.

The SDRRM Leader with the help of the School Head, facilitated the assessment of school building
structure, electrical wirings, and other facilities to make necessary repairs to prevent unnecessary
incidents.

Posted safety measures, designed school mapping for easy access and exits, provision of Covid-19
essentials and regular cleaning with disinfections are some of the activities that was done to fight Covid-
19 and make the school safe. The learners, parents and teachers enjoined to do their part outside the
school and in their homes the solid waste management, clean-up drive and adopt-a-plant/Gulayan sa
Paaralan to help our environment and to lessen the effects of climate change.

Frequent Flooding is one of the hazards that the school is facing every year and so to mitigate the effects
of flood we ensure the safety of learners and school personnel by taking necessary actions and the
ensuring that school records and other documents were properly secured. Quarterly drills for
earthquake even with pandemic were also exercised by the school and actively participated by the
parents, learners, and school personnel so that all are well-informed and ready when an earthquake hit.
Brochures were given ahead of time to inform the learners and parents about their participation in the
said drill.
