ESTIMATED DEMAND OF WATER SUPPLY

Table 5.1 FIXTURE UNIT VALUES

Kind of Fixture Fixture Unit

Floor drain 1
Kitchen sink 2
Sink, hotel or public 2
Lavatory or wash basin 1
Water closet 6
Source: Plumbing and Estimate 2nd Edition, Fajardo, M.B.

A. Determine the Maximum and Probable Demand

44 water closets x 6 units = 264
22 lavatories x 1 unit = 22
15 kitchen sinks x 2 units = 30
18 Sinks x 2 units = 36
Total fixture unit 352 fixture units

Solving for Maximum Demand:

Max. Demand = Total number of fixture unit x 8
= 352 fixture units x 8
= 2816 gallons

Table 13.1 PROBABILITY OF SIMULTANEOUS USE OF FIXTURES

Number of Fixtures Units Percentage of simultaneous use
1 to 5 50 to 100 %
6 to 50 25 to 50 %
51 or more 10 to 25 %
Source: Plumbing and Estimate 2nd Edition, Fajardo, M.B.

Solving for Probable Demand:

Probable Demand = Max. Demand (Reduction x Max. Demand)
Use 25 % reduction to get the probable demand
Probable Demand = 2816 gals. (0.25 x 2816 gals)
= 2112 gals. (7995 liters)

Use the Maximum Demand = 2816 gals. = 10.66 cu. m

Volume of the Water Needed = 10.66 cu. m
