Reforms in the Academic Curriculum for the year 2021-22 by VTU as per

NEP2020:
1. All the students admitted to engineering programmes shall have to undergo a mandatory
summer internship of 03 weeks during the intervening vacation of II and III semesters.
Summer Internship shall include Inter / Intra Institutional activities. A University Viva-
voce examination (Presentation followed by question-answer session) shall be
conducted during III semester and the prescribed credit shall be included in III semester.
The internship shall be considered as a head of passing and shall be considered for the
award of degree. Those, who do not take up / complete the internship shall be declared
fail and shall have to complete during subsequent University examination after
satisfying the internship requirements. (The faculty coordinator or mentor has to
monitor the students’ internship progress and interact to guide them for the successful
completion of the internship.)
2. Assessment Details:

• Two assignments each of 10 Marks (Total of 20 marks)
• Group discussion/Seminar/quiz any one of three suitably planned to attain the
COs and POs for 20 Marks (duration one hour) (20 marks)

be out of 100 marks and will be scaled down to 50 marks.
(ii)Semester End Examination(SEE):
• SEE will be conducted by the University with maximum of 100 marks with duration of
3 hours (as mentioned in the scheme)
• The question paper will have ten questions
• Each question is set for 20 marks
• There will be 2 questions from each module
• Each of the two questions under a module (with a maximum of 3 sub-questions), should
have a mix of topics under that module
• The students have to answer 5 full questions, selecting one full question from each
module
Conclusion: SEE which is conducted for maximum of 100 marks will be scaled down to 50
marks module
(iii) Assessment Details of both CIE and SEE:
▪ The weightage of Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) is 50%
and Semester End Exam (SEE) is 50%
▪ The minimum passing mark for the CIE is 40% of the maximum marks
(20 marks out of 50)
▪ The minimum passing mark for the SEE is 35% of the maximum marks
(18 marks out of 50)
Conclusion: The minimum passing mark is 40 out of 100 (sum total of the
CIE and SEE taken together)
