I. Summarize the text by pointing out the important details and the major points
raised by the author the clearly reflect his/her stand.

"Why a country that battled a tyrant should not bury Marcos in "Libingan ng Mga
Bayani," by Holden Dela Cruz of the negative side argument. Statement against
Ferdinand Marcos's burial in Libingan ng Mga Bayani. He stated that the LMB was
established as a symbolic place to honor persons who played a major role in the
nation's history and contributed to nationhood. The memorial of these heroes is to
inspire future generations and act as role models for young people and the unborn.
Ferdinand Marcos' burial is justified as a way to "emulate and encourage" future
generations. But the debater never claimed that Ferdinand Marcos deserved to be
called a hero. To begin with, Martial Law remains one of the worst eras in recent
history, with many people being murdered, tortured, and imprisoned. Many lives had
been sacrificed, basic rights had been suspended, and democracy had reached its
lowest. He states that burying Ferdinand Marcos would be an insult to the heroes of
Martial Law, burying Ferdinand Marcos would make him a "hero" despite the political
crimes he perpetrated during his era. "Burying Marcos at the Libingan ng Mga
Bayani would not be symbolic of our collective identity as a nation- because we are
a nation that fought a tyrant and a nation that learns from our past," a debater stated.

On the opposite side of "In Defense of Martial Law: Why Marcos Is a Hero." This
side's debate stated that the burial of late President Marcos is not an issue for
Martial Law victims. He admits his claims because it is factual that many people
have been tortured and so forth. He emphasizes the main concepts of martial law.
The country was in tremendous chaos, and assassination attempts were made on
the first lady, Enrile, and even the president himself. The armed forces were
paralyzed and powerless. The government was not receiving any revenue. That is
why he had resorted to his final option: martial law. He just implemented the
Constitution because it was necessary. As a leader, you must overlook and control
some things if there is no longer peace and order. President Ferdinand Marcos was
a guy who fought with our guerrillas and helped to make the Philippines a better
place. With his native brilliance, he made many Filipinos' life simpler by funding
several infrastructure projects in the Philippines. Well-known schools have long been
committed to this topic. This burial is still an ongoing issue because of most
historians and anti-Marcos law scholars. debater remarked "We are supposed to
bury the man, not praise him. Those who have died for a long time should be laid to
rest since they are unable to defend themselves. Let our sense of justice and
humanity outweigh our pain."

II. Give your own stand regarding the topic of the text. Justify your answer.

This is a challenging issue in my opinion because both sides of the argument have justifiable
facts. However, in terms of my own opinion, I believe Ferdinand Marcos should be buried at the
Libingan ng mga bayani. Why? Because he got the status of hero and made several
contributions to our nation that have benefitted it. Despite the fact that our country was
previously in anarchy, Ferdinand Marcos helped many families. Despite his intelligence, the
libingan ng mga bayani does not entirely bury honorable and true heroes. Soldiers who died in
the line of duty, as a result of disease, or for other reasons are buried. Because President
Marcos' life has been transformed into that of a President and a soldier.
