Meeting and exceeding the standards

International and national legislation based on IEC60849 defines the functional
requirements, ability to withstand fire and the standards of installation for
emergency voice alarm systems. Bosch EVAC products are fully complaint with
harmonized European standards and their national equivalents. Our organiza-
tion participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary commission that helps
define the standards.

The Bosch EVAC seal of certification

As evidence of how seriously Bosch takes voice alarm standards, the Praesideo
Emergency Sound System is fully certified by TÜV, one of Europe’s leading
independent authorities, according to standards like IEC60849 and BS5839.
The production site is also fully certified to ensure that all products leaving the
factory fulfill the relevant requirements. Few suppliers can offer such a total
commitment to certification. Only products that conform to IEC60849 and pass
our own tough testing routine bear the Bosch ‘EVAC’ seal of certification.

A certified partner program

Using certified equipment, however, is just one aspect of EVAC compliancy.
Installation must also be carried out according to exacting standards regarding,
among others, cabling, system redundancy, power supply backup, line/loud-
speaker monitoring and fireman’s panels. To ensure that installers are aware of
and can meet these requirements, we have set up a certified partner program.
In-depth installer training is backed up with detailed checklists in our installation
manuals to provide you with extra reassurance.

Understanding voice alarm procedures

Voice alarm systems play an important role in sophisticated

evacuation procedures. For example, phased evacuation in tall
buildings to manage the flow of people in emergency stairwells,
and instructing people to take luggage with them in bomb alerts
but leave everything behind in the event of fire.
Research also shows that pre-movement time is reduced with voice
alarm – many people initially interpret a bell or a tone as a false
alarm or fire drill, slowing down the evacuation process.

Voice alarm applications range from relatively
simple configurations in shops and offices to
extensive multi-zone installations in sports
stadiums, skyscrapers, airports and cruise ships.

guaranteed speech intelligibility and message
delivery. The Bosch EVAC Voice Alarm Systems,
loudspeakers and accessories are primarily
designed to meet these criteria, but are also fully
functional public address systems.

audio Plena Voice Alarm System and the fully
digital Praesideo Emergency Sound System.
Choosing the most suitable system depends on
your current and future requirements in terms of
number of zones, audio channels, expansion

guidance for constructing and installing fireman’s

elements, plus the Praesideo Emergency Sound System and Plena Voice
Alarm System for EVAC-compliant applications ranging from stand-alone

Reliable fire alarm systems

The fire alarm range includes the Magic.Sens multi-sensor
that detects fire optically, thermally and via a carbon monox-
ide detector, plus automatic smoke and heat sensors, beam
detectors, smoke aspiration systems, wireless LSN fire detec-
tors and manual call points. All systems relay information to
a central monitoring facility through control panels that can
be tailored to meet specific requirements. The portfolio also
includes sounders and strobes, alarm- and fault messages
transmitters, pagers, mobile phones and peripherals.

Praesideo Digital Emergency Sound System

Praesideo is the world’s first fully digital public address and
emergency sound system, and offers virtually limitless
possibilities. Networked using fiber-optic cable, it offers up to
virtually unlimited zones and 28 audio channels, and is fully
configurable via PC, network or Internet.

Plena Voice Alarm System

Plena is the modular public address and voice alarm system
for small-to middle-sized buildings. The voice alarm
capability extends up to 60 zones with 8 call stations.
It is part of the total Plena Public Address System, making it
easy to integrate Plena system elements such as the BGM
source and booster amplifiers.
