EE 11 – Intro to Electrical Engineering

FINAL TERM PROJECT

Objective:
To be able to calculate the cost of electricity of student’s household appliances. Consequently,
students will be mindful in using these appliances wisely not only to help reduce electricity bills
but also help conserve the limited supply of resources used in generating electricity.
Procedure:
1. List all your appliances at home
2. Look for the power rating of each appliances. (Usually found below or at the back of the
appliance).

3. Estimate the number of hours these appliances are used. (For monthly calculation use 30
days)
4. Calculate the power consumption for each appliance. (You can use Php12/kWh as effective
rate if the effective rate in your location is unavailable)

5. Provide a pie chart and then an essay explaining the result of your calculation.
