Refer to the provided matrix on the energy consumption of appliances. Get the estimated total energy consumption
for one month. (Show your computation.) What is the total energy consumption of all the appliances in kwh?
Get your household's average monthly electric bill for six (6) months by listing the amount paid and divide the total
by six. What is the average monthly bill? (Show your computation.)
Total = 20,080.91(electric bill for 6 continuous months) /6 = 3,346.818333333333 (average monthly bill)
Analyze the appliances that you are using and your electric bill. Can you do something to lessen the amount of your
electric bill? As a student, how are you going to CONSERVE ENERGY at home? Enumerate at least ten (10) ways.
1. Turn off unnecessary lights or when leaving a room
2. Unplug devices when not in use
3. Reduce using air conditioning - since this is one of the big factors in our electric bill, I decided to reduce
consumption—since summer has passed and winter is coming, there is no need to use the aircon
excessively.
4. Use stand fan effectively - This is also a factor that contributes mostly to our electric bill. In order to reduce
energy consumption, I learned how to maximize and circulate airflow to optimize the temperature in our
home. Some tips are: a) If the outside temperature is cooler than inside, place a fan at downstairs windows
to help bring the cool air in and another one upstairs to push the warm air out or b) Place a portable fan near
a window in the cool evening or morning hours to draw the cooler outside air into your home.
5. Switch some appliances such as lights to solar-powered
6. Close blinds & curtains to reduce heat in our home
7. Use an electronic power strip for electronic equipment
8. Invest in Energy Star appliances like washing machines, a/c, and more.
9. Use natural lighting in the morning
10. Buy LED light bulbs
