1.3 Safety Precautions

1.3a Special

This group of warnings concerns conditions that can affect both your immediate personal
safety and the future safety of the instrument’s operators.

WARNING: Risk of personal or operator injury. Covers and interlocks are installed
on the instruments to prevent injury from operating components. If you must
remove covers or disable interlocks to service an instrument:
1. Be alert and use extreme care when working around exposed components to avoid
personal injury.
2. At the end of the service call, always reinstall all instrument covers and ensure
interlocks are enabled to prevent operator injury.

WARNING: Risk of personal or operator injury. Broken or cut components with

sharp edges could puncture your gloves and skin, causing possible injury or
biohazardous contamination. Handle fragile components carefully to avoid breakage.
Replace any broken or cut components with sharp edges, even if they are still
functioning. Use mechanical means, such as hemostats, to handle a broken component,
whenever feasible. Dispose of broken components in accordance with the local
regulations and acceptable laboratory practice.

WARNING: Risk of personal or operator injury. Instrument doors, covers, and

panels that are mishandled can fail, leading to personal injury. Handle the
doors, covers, and panels with care and always follow the written instructions for
opening and closing or removing and reinstalling them.

WARNING: Risk of personal injury, operator injury, or damage to instrument

components. When performing a service call, always follow all applicable service
manual instructions. When questions arise, consult with Technical Support for guidance.

1.3b Electronic

WARNING: Risk of personal injury. Contacting exposed electronic

components while the instrument is attached to power can cause personal
injury from electric shock. Power down before removing covers to access electronic
components.

WARNING: Risk of personal injury or damage to instrument components. While

doing maintenance or service on the instrument, rings and other metal jewelry
could contact exposed electronic components, causing personal injury from electric
shock, or become caught in the instrument, damaging the components. Remove rings
and other metal jewelry before doing maintenance or service on the instrument.

CAUTION: Risk of damage to electronic components. If the power is ON while

removing or replacing printed circuit cards and electronic components, the
component could be damaged. To prevent damage to electronic components, power
down before removing or replacing printed circuit cards and electronic components.
1.3c Biological

WARNING: Risk of personal injury or contamination. If you do not properly

shield yourself while servicing the Analyzer with the doors open, you could
become injured or contaminated. To prevent possible injury or biohazardous
contamination, always wear appropriate safety glasses, a lab coat, and gloves when
servicing the Analyzer with the doors open.

WARNING: Risk of contamination. Biohazardous contamination can occur

from contact with the waste container and its associated tubing if not handled with
care. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid skin contact. Clean up spills
immediately. Dispose of the contents of the waste container in accordance with the local
regulations and acceptable laboratory practice.
Use universal precautions when working with pathogenic materials. Means must be
available to decontaminate the instrument and to dispose of biohazardous waste.
1.3d Troubleshooting

Bring the following warning to the customer’s attention before advising that customer to
do any service, maintenance or troubleshooting procedures on the Analyzer
.
WARNING: Risk of personal injury or contamination. If you do not properly
shield yourself while doing service, maintenance, and troubleshooting
procedures, residual fluids in the Analyzer could injure or contaminate you. Meril Life
recommends that you wear barrier protection, such as appropriate safety glasses, a lab
coat, and gloves throughout the performance of service, maintenance, and
troubleshooting procedures to avoid contact with cleaners and residual fluids in the
Analyzer.
Also, make sure customers are aware of the warning and information labels

10.0 Maintenance

Printer paper replacement

 When installing printing paper, cut the end of paper in a correct shape as shown in following
picture. Extend the printing paper to feeder of the printer.

Correct Incorrect

 When the instrument is on, feed the printing paper to the feeder under the paper delivery roll
press paper feed, the printing paper will come out automatically.
 Printer Maintenance

 Take out the print paper

 Take out the roller at first, pull out the print paper.

 Pull out the roller lightly

 Use the good-quality thermal printer paper

 Clean the roller regularly

 Take out the roller, clean the printer heater by using the cotton swab

Attention
 The power supply voltage is AC 230V. If the power supply is insufficient please use the AC
stabilized voltage supply not less than 200W to ensure the instrument works well.

 Merilyzer Proviso should be installed far from electromagnetic radiation source and high
frequency radiation device (radio telephone and wireless phone, etc)

 Only the trained personnel can use Merilyzer Proviso. The manufacturer and authorized
agency should be responsible for the training.

 Recommended to use Merilyzer Proviso with compatible reagent and cuvettes to ensure the
accuracy of the result.

 Please follow the reagent kit insert while testing.

 Please remove the testing sample and reagent before the instrument is shifted to another
location.

 Every Merilyzer Proviso has been inspected before packing. Please do not change the setting
and supporting facilities.

Important Notes

 Prewarm for 15 mins to ensure the testing accuracy.

 Avoid direct sunshine and bright light and keep away from high heat object and strong
electromagnetic interference source.

 Do not touch the lower part of the cuvette to ensue the testing accuracy.

 Merilyzer Proviso is a precision optical instrument. Stabilization after Power On is

necessary.

 The Electronic pipette has wearing parts. Please change after 5000 times of use.
Recommended to use the touch pen for LCD operation.

 Keep the printing head clean and dry.

 Remove the cuvette from the testing position after testing and keep the testing position
vacant.

 Do not touch the screen while testing .The Go back key can be pressed accidently and the
test will be incomplete .

 The temperature should be maintained while testing
