TOOL LIST
Ruler, Scissors, Chalk pencil, Pencil, Sewing machine, Pins, Needle.

Cut out the Fabric
With the wrong side of the fabric in a single layer, draw the patterns directly onto the wrong side of the
fabric. Make sure to transfer all points and references to the fabric. Cut out the exterior, lining and
interfacing. Iron the interfacing on the wrong side of the exterior fabric. Draw and cut the interfacing using
a lining pattern. Fuse the interfacing on wrong side of the lining following the manufacture’s guide.

Stitch the Exterior and the Lining

Make the Flap

Pin the exterior flap and lining flap with right sides Clip the curved seam. Turn the flap right side out,
facing, see Picture 6. Stitch only rounded seam, see Picture 7. Press the flap; topstitch 1/8” away
leave a straight edge unstitched (for turning). from the curved seam only.

Tip: If you would like to make a patched flap


version, cut out the 6 pieces of 1 ½” x 3 ¼”. Sew
the panels and iron the seam.

Match the lining flap and patched exterior flap with


right sides together. Stitch together, using the
lining seam allowance. Leave a straight edge
unstitched. Cut out the exterior leftover. Turn it
right side out. Press and topstitch the flap.

Place the flap onto the back piece of the exterior
with exterior sides facing, aligning the raw edge of
the exterior clutch and the flap. Pin and baste the
flap and the exterior in place, see Picture 8.

Assemble the Exterior and Lining

Press the exterior and lining seams open. Put the Pin the opening of the clutch. Sew along the
exterior into the lining with right sides together, opening of the clutch using a ¼” seam allowance,
sandwiching the flap in between the exterior and leave a 3” gap to turn it right side out, see Picture

the opening of the clutch.

Topstitch

Tuck the lining into the exterior. Topstitch all- Sew the button to the exterior flap as desired
around of the opening of the clutch, see Picture 13. location.
