(garment construction). I am also thankful to the lab assistants Mrs.
Priya and Mr. Srinivasan, DFT, whose insightful leadership and
knowledge helped us to steer out this work. I greatly appreciate the
motivation and understanding extended for this work.

I am also thankful to my parents, who encouraged me to extend my


reach, with their help and support; I am able to complete this work. I
am indebted to all of them including my friends, who did their best

Introduction
Skirt

This is a godet skirt with gathers on the waist.

The fabric used for this is navy blue raw silk along with purple raw
silk in the two side godets.

Also a lining of cotton has been given.


Garment

This is a box pleated dress.

The material used is century cotton.


Stitching method

 Seam used- Plain seam or super imposed seam and bound


seam.
 Stitch used – Class 300 (single needle lockstitch)
 Class 504 (three thread overlock)
 Machine - Single Needle Lockstitch Machine
 Needle - DB X 11
 Thread- Ameto coats spun polyester Thread
 Machine- Juki Single Needle Lock Stitch Machine
SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS
 Making patterns.
 Tracing the patterns on the Production sheet and sticking them
on the production sheet leaving 1cm allowance and cut the
patterns.
 Trace the patterns on the fabric.
 Cut the fabrics.
 For garment:-
 Stitching the 4 panels (2 fronts and 2 backs) together.
 Stitch the zipper at the centre back of the dress.
 For skirt:-
 Stitching the 4 panels (2 fronts and 2 backs) together.
 Stitching the godets to the main skirt.
 Stitching a cotton lining.
 Stitching the zipper along the side of the skirt.
Costing

Big Zipper – 20
Small zipper - 15
Threads - Ameto Coats Spun Polyester Thread- 8*3=24
Needle – DB X 11- 20
Total fabric cost – 513

Total cost= 592


SEWING TIME

1st day: - Skirt: Started working on the skirt. The skirt


was finished without the cotton lining.
2nd day: - Skirt and test fit: The skirt was finished along
with the lining. The test fit of the garment made of
muslin was also finished.
3rd day: - Final garment: The final garment was finished
along with the zipper.
