Project Guidelines for Students

1. Students are expected to visit Minimum 5 Retail Business Outlets covering


all categories like Food & Beverages, Clothing &Apparel, Daily Essentials,
Automobile & Electronics, Retail and Medicines, etc.
2. Students shall prepare project report on the points like: Store layout,
Product display, logistics and SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities
and Challenges) analysis, etc. Viva-voce (External) will be conducted on the
submitted project report.
3. The students are required to finalize the project topic/final draft of project
in consultation with course teacher/guide and required to submit 2 project
reports( one addressing to Savitribai Phule Pune University and the other to
College name).
4. The Project Report will be evaluated on the following grounds:
• Selection of Retail outlets,
• Content
• Application of the theory
• Guidelines followed regarding structure & style
5. Each student is required to face the Viva-voce.
6. As per SPPU guidelines total marks allotted for Project are 50 which are
further divided into 30 Marks for Project Report (Hard Copy submission)
and 20 Marks for Viva-voce.

Project Report Format should be divided into 3 major parts:
A. Preliminary/ Preceding Pages
B. Main Text (Central part of Report)
C. End matter/ Text
• Title (Cover Page)
• Certificate of College
• Certificates of Retail Shops A. Preliminary/ Preceding
• Declaration page pages
• Acknowledgement page
• Index pages
• Abstract (in Italic ,Maximum one page)
B. Main Text (Central part of Report):
1. Retail Store Name
1.1. Introduction of the Retail Outlet (History of Retail outlet,
Year of establishment, Founder member/members, number of
stores, Total turnover, Industry market share etc.)
1.2. Retail marketing mix (Product Mix Pricing Strategies, Promotion Mix ,
Distribution Channels, Presentation, People Mix)
1.3. Elements of Store Design
1.3.1. Interior Store Design with photographs (Store Layout, Space Planning,
Atmospherics-Fixtures, Flooring &ceiling, Lighting. Graphics and Signage
etc.)
1.3.2. External Store Design with photographs (Location, Store Theme, Building
Architecture-Frontage & entrance, Exterior display space, health and safety
hazards, Store Marquee etc.)
1.4. Merchandising Management (with photographs)
1.5. SWOC Analysis of Retail Shops
