CLIMATE ACTION

SOCIAL TREND Problem arises increases in climate action: In 2020, 22% of the
world's population believed the Earth had warmed over the past 100
years, one of the highest rates seen since this survey began in 1997,
when it was 17%.
As the climate continues to change, millions of poor people face
greater challenges in terms of extreme events, health effects, food
security, livelihood security, migration, water security, cultural
identity, and other related risks.
STOVE-TEAM’S MISSION: It is the best solutions we have to
fight climate action and deforestation, while saving lives at the same
time. Justa-cookstove produced prevents up to 15 tons of CO2 from
entering the atmosphere, equivalent to the average American’s
carbon footprint for an entire year. This means you can offset your
carbon footprint with a donation of just $10 per month. Each stove
you make possible also saves lives and makes healthy living possible
for an average family of nearly eight people!

ECONOMICAL CHANGE IN GDP: If worldwide temps increase by 3.2°C by 2050,

TREND the much more severe effects of climate change could be a loss of up
to 18% of world GDP. Projection based on existing temperature rises
and inability to fulfil the Paris Treaty's net-zero emission targets. In
one of the worst situations, if temperature increases by 3.2°C, this
amount may rise to 18% of GDP by mid-century. Changing climate,
as according recent research, could cost the global economy 10% of
its own general economic worth by 2050.
The climate defined as the typical weather in a region over a period
of time. Result of climate by a variation in those average conditions.
Humans' use of oil, gas, and charcoal in their homes, industries, and
transportation has resulted in the rapid climate change we are now
witnessing.

ENVIRONMENTAL Increase in renewable energy resources: Renewable energy arrived

TREND at an important tipping point in April 2019 when, for the first time
ever, it surpassed coal as a means of generating U.S. electric power,
according to the National Energy Regulatory Commission. In the first
half of 2019, wind and solar together generated approximately 50%
of total U.S. renewable electricity.
REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE: Regenerative agriculture is
a farming strategy that prioritizes soil health, land management, and
biodiversity during the cultivation and harvesting of food products.
With regenerative agriculture, deliberate practices are put into
practice that minimizes the loss of necessary soil nutrients and
minerals, thereby preserving the life of the soil; foods grown in these
environments are termed “Regenerative Organic” products. This
trend is expected to grow in 2020 as more farmers become vested in
maintaining soil health and vitality.
Relationship to Plastic: Most people are already familiar with the
dangers of plastic such as the effect on sea pollution and difficulties
in plastic breakdown. As a result of these dangers, over the past
several years there has been an increase in plastic recycling as well as
the use of more biodegradable products.
Efforts by companies to towards greater plastic recycling and the use
of biodegradable products is stated to further increase in future some
examples are below.
Example: In April, Swiss food giant Nestle promised to make all its
plastic packaging 100 per cent recyclable or reusable by 2025. It
wants to encourage the use of plastics that allow better recycling
rates and eliminate or change the complex combinations of plastic
that make recycling so difficult.

TECHNOLOGICAL SAFER WAY TO EXTRACT METHANE: A fresh wave of

TREND technological innovation is deepening our understanding of tough
environmental challenges and also giving us new ways to solve them.
One example will be new approaches for measuring and reducing
emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that has pound for
pound more than 80 times the near-term warming power of carbon
dioxide.
PLANNING OF EDF: EDF are calling for a 45 percent reduction in
global oil and gas methane emissions by 2025. EDF is working with
Shell to test continuous monitoring technologies developed by
entrepreneurs who took part in our “Mobile Monitoring Challenge “.
They have also partnered with Stanford University and ExxonMobil
to look at mobile detection technologies, using aircraft and drones
deploying advanced sensor technologies to help create a healthier
environment in other ways. A satellite mission due to launch in 2021,
and designed to continuously map and measure methane emissions
with exacting precision almost anywhere on the planet. Methane-
SAT will make it possible to “see” emissions in places where they’re
difficult to track today. Now more than ever, technology is the key to
making this a worldwide success story.
