and pile up at the supermarkets.
As three biggest wholesale market: Hoc Mon, Thu Duc & Binh Dien are
temporarily closed due to COVID-19, Ho Chi Minh City’s supply chain is
disrupted. This disruption is going to affected more than 8 millions citizen
during the pandemic.
To tackle this problem, the local authority has built temporary warehouses in
the container parking zone behind Thu Duc wholesale market. This 8.000m2
temporary terminal is expected to handle 1000-1500 tons of goods daily for
supermarkets & minimarts in Ho Chi Minh City.
MUJI, a Japanese brand selling home décor and lifestyle goods opened its first flagship store
in Hanoi on July 3, The store is located at Vinhome Center Metropolis, with an area of 2,000
square meters. This is MUJI’s second store in Vietnam after the first one opened last year in
HCMC. According to Tetsuya Nagaiwa, General Director of MUJI Vietnam, the process of
choosing location for its Hanoi store was more complicated compared to the one in HCMC.
The company eventually chose the place as the neighborhood has a large Japanese
population and the store area is spacious enough for setting up a large store.
The brand targets Hanoi and HCMC as the two main markets to build brand recognition
before expanding to other cities across the country. The price offered at MUJI Vietnam is
considered affordable as some of its products are produced locally, making the prices in
Vietnam lower than other markets.
