COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to explain the key principles which underpin best-practice
procurement, and the strategic importance of developing sound procurement planning
and objectives. It goes on to demonstrate the various linkages in the procurement
cycle, and equips students with the knowledge and skill required in various
procurement activities such as sourcing, performance and public-sector procurement.
Finally, it provides an understanding of the issues surrounding the preparation and
management of contracts, and the implications of these for the organization.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Student will be able to
Demonstrate the various linkages in the procurement cycle, and equips students with
the knowledge and skill required to plan procurement activities

Explain procurement and how it relates to the supply chain management function.
Explain the issues surrounding information solicitation, supplier selection and
contract award
Design tools to measure procurement performance and
Demonstrate the role contract management plays in the procurement function
