ABSTRACT

In this world , the economy of many countries is dependent upon agriculture. In

spite of economic development agriculture is the backbone of the economy. It
contributes to the gross domestic product . Agriculture meets food requirements of
the people and produces several raw materials for the industries. But because of the
animal interference and fire in agricultural lands , there will be a huge loss of crops
. There will be large amount of loss to farmers . To avoid these financial losses it is
very important to protect agricultural fields or farms from animals and fire . So the
aim of this project is to design a system to prevent the entry of animals into the
farm and also to prevent the crop from fire, using Embedded system . The main
purpose of this project is to develop intruder alert to the farm , to avoid losses due
to animals and fire. These intruder alert protect the crop from damaging that
indirectly increase the yield of the crop. This system will not be harmful and
injurious to animal as well as human beings.

INTRODUCTION

Due to over population, it occurs a deforestation this results in shortage of food,

water and shelter in forest areas. So, animal’s interference in residential areas and
farm lands is increasing day by day which affects the crops . Crops in farms are
many times ravaged by local animals like buffaloes, cows, goats, birds etc. They
damage the crops by running over them, eating and completely vandalizing them ,
this in turn leads to huge loss for the farmers . So here we propose automatic crop
protection system from animals. This is a microcontroller-based system . These
systems use a motion sensor to detect wild animal approaching near the field. In
such a case the sensor signal the microcontroller to take action . Along with this a
fire sensor is added to avoid the spreading of fire , when ever the crop catches the
fire.

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of this system is to protect the crops in farm area from animals
and fire. The smart crop protection system helps to reduce crop damage from
animals and fire by using PIR sensor and smoke sensor , and increase the food
production. Thus improve the quality and yield of agricultural produce . This
system helps us to keep away wild animals from farmland and it doesn't require
manual work so it saves the time and prevents loss of crops.
BLOCK DIAGRAM

In the proposed system, Crop monitoring is done where sensors are used to collect
information in the agricultural field . PIR, Smoke sensor and GSM is used in our
project . When animals come near to the PIR sensor and it detects the animal
movement. After getting that initial input signal, it is passed for further processing.
Then it will be given to the microcontroller. Our system will be activated,
immediately buzzer will be on, at the same time it sends an SMS and makes call to
the owner or farmer . Microcontroller Block is used for reading the inputs from
PIR and Smoke sensor. Whole process is controlled by microcontroller. The GSM
module is used for sending SMS and making call to farmer when movement or
smoke is detected. It also turns ON the motor, when smoke is detected. It alerts the
farmer that some animals try to enter into the farm. The LCD data will be display
for SMS sending.
APPLICATIONS

This system developed for crop monitoring can be used in agricultural fields ,
farms , wetlands , forests etc.
