Introduction
Mechatronic systems are used in different
sectors of application, such as agriculture,
automotive, health, lifestyle and consumer
products, etc. Currently, mechatronics plays a
crucial role in making us a better life with eco-
friendly products. Mechatronic systems also
provide a competitive advantage in a harsh
industrial environment. Especially, Mechatronics
has found quite numbers of useful applications
in agriculture which is one of the oldest
industries
Mechatronics in agriculture
Precision agriculture
(PA)

In the 1980s, precision agriculture was first

applied in industrial manufacturing with the
application of sensors, mechatronics and
automation to improve efficiency of monitoring
techniques.
High technologies have reduced waste,
environmental impact, progressed economic
capability, and increased food sustainability.
Animal Husbandry
Special electronic systems have been
created to handle the variables
involved and provide the farmer with
the appropriate tools and warning
signals. With advances in
mechatronics, biosensor technology
has great potential in improving
animal welfare, health and production
efficiency.
Autonomous farm tractors
Mechatronics has enabled the automation of
these machines, thereby increasing
productivity, improving safety, and reducing
costs for many agricultural processes.
An autonomous tractor is programmed to
drive with the associated routes. Each tractor
is equipped with onboard sensors to detect
people, animals, and other large objects in
the machine's path, stopping for those
obstructions until a directive from a supervisor
via a wireless connection
Seed Sowing
Today, with the help of mechatronics,
automatic combined cultivators and seeders
are already available to perform tedious
processes. The machine allows for both
minimal plowing and tillage as well as
simultaneous sowing of grain and catch
crops. The application of this machine allows
tillage and sowing seeds in one time. The
combined use of cultivators and sowing will
enhance the economic and agronomic
impacts.
Crop monitoring systems
Crop monitoring system used the
Wireless Sensor Network
 Create a low-cost remote
monitoring and controlling system
 Inform up-to-minute state of the
crop
 Do multiple task at one time:
Watering, Fertilizing,…
Plant Fertilizing
The system consists of three main parts:
1.Sensors
2.Microcontrollers
3.Distribution systems
Currently, there are developments being made in advanced application systems for
fertilizing target crops. Photographs of the plantation are taken via satellite and then
decoded to provide available data on the condition of every part of the plantation. A
fertilization program for the entire plantation will then be created based on soil status,
crop type, weather conditions, etc. After that, the program will be loaded to the
control unit of the mechatronic fertilization device on the tractor. Then the tractor with
the assistance of GPS and automatic guidance will proceed to fertilize.
