Animal health plan

Taking care of Cattle requires a myriad of skills in handling and implementation of the

operations. From the time they enter the station it is important to tally the flock while also

booking them. Establishing a profile of this animals will assist me as the operations manager in

having a detailed record of patterns presented by the cattle.

Handling the cattle after they arrive at my station will commence with preparation of their sheds.

This includes activities such as ensuring they have a clean premise with straw or saw dust laid

down to reduce wetness (Dyar, O. et al 2018). Observing the animal’s response to their new

surroundings will help me in identifying any incidences of fright that might be caused by objects

foreign to the cattle. Observing their twitching might also give me more perspective on some

alien objects that cause tension.

Feeding of the cattle will be done at intervals during the day. The feeding program will take into

account factors such as gender, age and health of the animal so as to offer beneficial meals in

regards to the animal’s condition (Huda, A et al. 2017). In case an animal falls ill the first cause

of action will be to isolate the animal and immediately call in a veterinarian to access the animal.

After tests and diagnosis are given, care will be given to the convalescent animal as per the

instructions given by the vet. All this will be noted down in the records and on releasing the

cattle to a new farm the book will be handed along with the cattle.
